Kim Kardashian is facing a backlash after being pictured with a Hermès Birkin bag said to be made from rare elephant skin.
The incident not only caused controversy in public opinion but also attracted strong condemnation from Ireland Baldwin, daughter of actor Alec Baldwin and cousin of famous model Hailey Bieber.

The incident has also sparked controversy over a scandalous period in the Hermès brand's history of using rare animal skins.
In a video from the All's Fair Fashion Files series on TikTok, Kim Kardashian was captured posing with an elephant Birkin. She wore a tight gray dress, a matching hood, and white heels.
Just hours after going viral, this image immediately received a wave of strong criticism from animal activists and the fashion-loving community.
Ireland Baldwin posted a reaction clip on her personal Instagram, along with the status line: "This is shameful. I don't understand why these people are still praised like that."
She highlights the serious ethical issues surrounding the use of exotic animal skins in the luxury goods industry.
Many fans have pointed out that Hermès used to produce a very small number of elephant skin bags decades ago, supposedly using the skin of an elephant shot during hunting trips.
Although this product line has long been discontinued, the online community still believes that this is an indelible "black mark" in the company's history.
There were many harsh comments on social media about the incident such as: "Hermès is already bad at using animal skin, but to this extent, they can't bear it"; "They do it because there are buyers and Kim still encourages it".

Many people criticized Kim for being “insensitive” and “showing off his wealth insensitively.” They said that elephants are intelligent and endangered species; using or displaying products made from their skin is “unacceptable.”
Video of the bag, posted by a luxury consignment account, shows Kim sitting in a luxurious interior space with the bag placed next to her.
According to PETA, these elephant skin Birkins date back to the 1980s, are not officially sold by Hermès, and are currently estimated to be worth up to $125,000 due to their rarity.
Kim Kardashian has yet to respond and her representative did not comment.
The incident continued to attract much controversy, especially when Ireland Baldwin publicly criticized Kim "super butt", even though her cousin - Hailey Bieber - has a close relationship with the Kardashian family.
