Apple has been pushing to diversify its supply chain in recent years. To date, iPhone production remains in China, while much of the production of devices destined for the US market has moved elsewhere.

Earlier this year, Apple shifted most of its iPhone supply for the US market to India. Other devices such as AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad and HomePod are being assembled in Vietnam.
According to Bloomberg , the Vision Pro version with the M5 processor and the new generation strap is assembled in Vietnam. Previously, the predecessor launched in February 2024 with the M2 processor was originally manufactured in China.
Although the Vision Pro glasses are labeled "made in Vietnam", some accessories like the Dual Knit Band are still manufactured in China at Luxshare's factory.
It is currently unclear whether the Vision Pro glasses production process is split between Vietnam and China.
Compared to the previous version, the Vision Pro M5 glasses have no change in design. The M5 chip provides stronger processing speed and longer battery life than the previous version using the M2 chip.

Apple didn't give details about the performance improvements, but said the new Vision Pro glasses allow for 3 hours of continuous video viewing, compared to 2.5 hours in the old version.
The new generation Vision Pro officially hit shelves on October 22. The product starts at $3,499 for the 256GB storage option and goes up to $3,899 for the 1TB storage option.
