The experiences from training and organizing sports events for new soldiers at Division 316 are typical models of Military Region 2.

Organize systematic and practical training

With the newly recruited soldiers coming from the provinces in the Military Region, most of whom are ethnic minorities with uneven levels of awareness, Division 316 identified this as both a challenge and a driving force for training innovation. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Tien Trung, Deputy Chief of Staff of Division 316, said: “From the beginning of the year, the Party Committee and the Division Command issued a specialized resolution on CSM training, closely following Resolution 1659-NQ/QUTW and the breakthrough requirements of the Military Region. The highlight is to perfect the training staff framework, promoting the role of squad-level officers - the force that directly determines the quality of training”.

Accordingly, units quickly stabilized their organizations, assigned specific tasks, assigned targets, and required responsibilities, linking training with emulation assessments and evaluating the quality of cadres at the end of the year. The model of "3 cadres together, 2 before, 2 after" was widely deployed, showing clear effectiveness in connecting cadres and new soldiers. Cadres not only taught theory, but also set examples, trained in practical movements, corrected each movement, and trained a scientific military lifestyle and regular discipline.

Captain Nguyen Huu Manh, Captain of Company 6, Battalion 8, Regiment 98, shared: “We identify CSM education as not only military training, but also human training. We must combine political , ideological, and moral education with skills training. Each officer must understand each soldier to choose the appropriate training method. Soldiers with special circumstances receive closer attention.”

At the end of the training session, the test results for the "3 explosions" content were high: 66.3% of the AK shooting test, lesson 1 was good and excellent; 88.8% of the grenade throwing test, lesson 1 was good; 98.5% of the explosives test, lesson 1 was good and excellent. The units ensured absolute safety for people, weapons and technical equipment.

Organizing practical and effective sports events is a lever to promote competition.

One of the outstanding experiences of Division 316 is organizing the New Soldiers Sports Festival closely linked to the training program, both to test the actual quality and to create a competitive atmosphere, forge bravery, and strengthen collective spirit.

According to Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Division Commander, Chief of Staff of Division 316: “We determined that the CSM Sports Festival is not only to select the team, but also a form of comprehensive evaluation of training results, an opportunity for units to learn and share experiences. Preparations are carefully organized from the squad to the division level. All training grounds, training tools, weapons and equipment, and operating schedules are built in detail from the beginning of the year, checked weekly, ensuring compliance with Military Region standards.”

The sports festival is organized at many levels, starting from squad, platoon, company, regiment, ending with the Division level sports festival. The competition content is comprehensive according to the training program for new soldiers, including: shooting, grenade throwing, explosives, martial arts, infantry combat techniques, armed marching, political awareness competition, team command, etc.

The highlight is the competition organization method that combines physical training and combat skills in conditions close to real combat. Units compete in clusters, with an impartial jury, and reserve forces participating in encouragement and cheering. The sports atmosphere is both urgent, serious, and competitive, creating strong motivation throughout the Division.

Experience in operating, organizing and ensuring sports events

Organizing a successful sports festival requires scientific management and close coordination between agencies and units. Experience from Division 316 shows that it is necessary to develop a system of directive documents early, assign specific forces, train judges, develop a backup plan and pay special attention to safety assurance.

By 2025, units in the Division will ensure from 25,000 to 50,000 models of teaching aids and training materials; training grounds will be reinforced and arranged reasonably according to each content; the system of signs and benchmarks will be standardized. Military medical and logistical work will be organized in clusters, ready to handle incidents. Meals, rest, drinking water, bathing water, etc. will be fully prepared.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Tien Trung emphasized: “An important point in organizing the sports festival is to create a proactive and enthusiastic spirit for the troops. The political activities and emulation campaigns before the sports festival all focus on arousing the will and desire to contribute. In the sports festival, there should be no negativity, no achievement should be the goal, but actual quality and training of character should be the measure.”

Through the Sports Festival, the Division learned many lessons to continue to improve training, especially for new soldiers - the next force in building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modern Army.

It can be affirmed that the experiences from training and organizing the CSM sports festival at Division 316 are not only a typical model of Military Region 2, but also a practical reference lesson for units throughout the army.

In the coming period, the Division will continue to improve the quality of training staff, innovate methods of educating soldiers, increase the application of technology and simulation models; at the same time, pay attention to and take care of material and spiritual life, build a formal, democratic and humane environment so that each new soldier can be comprehensively trained and mature in his own unit.
