Kon Tum: Strongly handle projects that are behind schedule and not implemented

Industry is on the rise

Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee said that the state budget revenue in the first 5 months of 2025 was 1,450 billion VND, reaching 44.1% of the central budget estimate and 29.0% of the local budget estimate; of which: domestic revenue was 1,346.7 billion VND, import-export revenue was 103.7 billion VND, reaching 32.3% of the estimate.

The industrial production index in May 2025 is estimated to increase by 7.56% over the same period last year. Of which, the mining industry increased the most (up 37.50%); the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 20.61%, the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 2.39%; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 3.00% over the same period due to increased demand from the people.

Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the market in the first 5 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 18,084 billion, up 43.04% over the same period, reaching 43.47% of the plan.

Export turnover in the first 5 months of 2025 is estimated at 154 million USD, up 10% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 43.6% of the plan; import turnover is estimated at about 3.08 million USD, up 25.2% over the same period in 2024 and reaching 38.5% of the plan.

Regarding the tourism industry, from the beginning of the year until now, Kon Tum province has attracted about 1,367,935 visitors, reaching 45.6% of the plan; of which, international visitors accounted for about 7,535. Total revenue reached about 475 billion VND, reaching 63.33% of the plan.

In 5 months, 132 new enterprises were established in the province, reaching 44% of the plan and 93.62% compared to the same period with a total registered capital of about 676 billion VND.

During the month, 9 inspections were completed, and a total of 33.7 million VND in violations were discovered. A recommendation was made to recover and pay the entire amount to the state budget.

Mr. Phan Van Tung, Deputy Director of Kon Tum Department of Finance, said that in general, in May and the first 5 months of 2025, the province's socio-economic situation achieved many good results, in which industrial production, export, total retail sales of goods and service revenue, and tourists increased compared to the same period last year.

Improve investment and business environment

In the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee will review and propose adjustments to the contents of the Kon Tum Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 after the Prime Minister approves the adjustment. In particular, speed up the completion of procedures to attract investment in projects in the MD1 Sub-Zone Planning area, Mang Den town, Kon Plong district. Coordinate with the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee to speed up the implementation of investment procedures for the construction of the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum Expressway.

At the same time, conduct bidding to select investors for projects in the Plan to implement the 8th Power Master Plan, which have not yet selected investors and granted investment policies. Strengthen market inspection and control to effectively combat and prevent acts of speculation, trade fraud, violations of food safety, violations of price regulations, and violations of intellectual property.

Continue to exploit the full potential of natural landscapes, cultural identity, historical relics, tangible and intangible heritages... to attract tourists. Improve the professionalism and quality of tourism services. In particular, focus on building and developing Mang Den Tourist Area into an attractive destination with a brand name in the region, domestically and internationally on the basis of the Master Plan for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area approved by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Tung also emphasized that in the coming time, the province will continue to promote administrative reform, improve the investment environment, enhance competitiveness and increase investment attraction in the province. Timely remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up procedures for approving investment policies according to regulations. Review projects that have been granted investment licenses, terminate operations for projects that are behind schedule, not implemented or implemented ineffectively to attract and select other investors with capacity, reputation and enthusiasm to invest, not to waste local resources.

At the same time, continue to focus on effectively resolving people's difficulties and problems regarding residential land, housing, production land, and stabilizing population arrangements in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
