Having moved into their new house for nearly 2 months, Y Sier Kroh's family (Kla hamlet, Dray Sap commune) is still filled with joy.
Because they have no land to produce crops and no stable jobs, even though they have been married for nearly 10 years, Mr. Y Sier and his wife still live with his wife's parents. For many years, the three-generation family of 10 people had to live in a small, cramped, and dilapidated house.
Faced with that reality, the commune officials mobilized Mr. Y Sier’s parents-in-law to complete the procedures to give the couple a part of the family’s residential land. The local government also accompanied and supported the implementation of the procedures to separate the plot and issue new land use right certificates. Thanks to that, Mr. Y Sier’s family had land with legal conditions to build a house.

His family's new house has an area of nearly 60 square meters , the construction cost is more than 100 million VND, of which the Provincial Police supported 80 million VND. Mr. Y Sier shared: "Thanks to the support of the local government, my family has a new, spacious house, feeling much more secure. Having a solid place to live is the motivation for my family to continue working and producing, striving to escape poverty sustainably."
As a poor household in the locality, for many years, Ms. H. Yu Eban's family (Rung village, Buon Trap town) had to live in a makeshift house. In early 2025, with support of 80 million VND from the district's temporary and dilapidated house elimination program, along with the family's savings and the help of laborers in the village, her family was able to build a new house of more than 40 square meters. After 2 months of construction, the house was completed and put into use.
Ms. H Yu confided: "I am old, living alone, and living in very difficult conditions. The old house was not safe. Thanks to the help of the government, I was able to build a new house, ensuring a stable place to live."
Right from receiving instructions from the Central Steering Committee and the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Dak Lak province, Krong Ana district has identified timely and effective leadership and management as important factors for the program to achieve positive results.
Accordingly, the district has established a Program Steering Committee, assigned specific tasks to members, and focused on resolving difficulties and obstacles during the implementation process. One of the bright spots in the program implementation process is the active participation of communes, towns, and mass organizations. The household selection process is carried out openly and transparently, giving priority to poor households with the will to rise up, the elderly, and the lonely.

In addition, the Fatherland Front Committees at district and commune levels coordinate with local authorities to regularly inspect, urge and supervise the implementation of new construction and housing repair, ensuring that households use the supported funds for the right purposes.
Mr. Hoa Quang Trinh, Vice Chairman of Dray Sap Commune People's Committee, affirmed that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is not simply about building houses but also an important step to help poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives and escape poverty sustainably. This policy not only improves people's quality of life but also strengthens their trust in the Party and State's attention to social security work, contributing to perfecting the criteria for residential housing in the set of criteria for new rural construction.
Through review, in 2025, the whole district of Krong Ana has 272 households with temporary houses, dilapidated houses that need to be rebuilt and repaired (179 houses need to be rebuilt and 93 houses need to be repaired). The subjects needing support are policy families, poor households, near-poor households and ethnic minority households.
By June 17, the district had started construction of 179 new houses (support cost from 80 - 107 million VND/house) for families, completed and handed over 55 houses; started repairing 93 houses (support cost from 30 - 47 million VND/house) and completed and handed over houses to 65 households. These houses not only meet the requirements on area and construction structure but are also fully equipped with auxiliary works, ensuring the quality of life for the people.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Dong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Ana district, said that the funding for the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has been basically arranged and fully allocated. Therefore, the units are actively speeding up the construction progress to ensure completion before August 31, 2025.
