The movie "Hitman 2" officially opens in Vietnamese theaters from March 14, 2025. |
The story of the extremely deadly assassin
"Hitman 2" is the sequel to the comedy-action blockbuster about the journey of former spy Jun to pursue his passion for creating comics and rescuing his wife and children from danger. Once the number 1 spy of the NIS, Jun escaped from the organization and retired to draw comics in poverty and misery. Once, he made a mistake and used his previous secret life as a subject for his writing, but he quickly revealed his identity and got into countless troubles.
After its first part was released in 2020, "Hitman" quickly became a hit thanks to its humorous elements and unprecedented action movie genre combined with comics.
After 5 years of nurturing, director Choi Won-seop has successfully brought the soul of the "Hitman" series back to part 2 in the form of an action movie combining comics with many unique and new elements.
Inheriting and developing the story from part 1, in “Hitman 2”, Jun is being framed for a terrorist attack that imitates the webtoon he just released. The plot becomes more complicated when this terrorist attack makes the NIS suspect Jun as the culprit. This setting paves the way for a series of “half-laughing, half-crying” situations and unique action sequences on a grander scale.
Although the plot has the spirit of a tense and dramatic action movie, there are still many funny situations such as the unequal battle between swords and pencils or the humorous scene of husband and wife "fighting" between Jin and his wife. Moreover, the graceful juggling between the "trio of defenders" including the "brainless" cartoonist Jun, Director of the National Intelligence Service Deok-gyu and Cheol, Jun's "hardcore fan" and current NIS agent promises to make the audience laugh out loud when they go to the theater.
Top 1 Korean Box Office
Released during the recent Lunar New Year, Hitman 2 dominated the Korean box office with the Top 1 revenue achievement for 9 consecutive days (from January 26 to February 3), reaching nearly 13 million USD with 2 million tickets sold, defeating Song Hye-kyo's Dark Nuns (9.6 million USD) in Korea, proving the appeal of comedy and action films that ensure full entertainment elements for audiences when going to theaters.
Not inferior to part 1, "Hitman 2" is also the first film to surpass the break-even point among films released in 2025 in Korea, which creates expectations for a third part after two successful films that were well received by Korean audiences.
In Vietnam, the movie "Hitman 2" officially premiered on March 14, 2025.
