Luke Bell and the world's fastest drone.
According to a VNA reporter in Pretoria, a South African father and son, Mike and Luke Bell from Worcester city in the Western Cape province, have just broken the Guinness World Record with the world's fastest battery-operated remote-controlled aircraft they created.
The drone designed and built by Luke Bell and his father Mike achieved an average speed of 480.23km/h (298.47 mph), breaking the previous world record of 360.50km/h.
Local drone makers say their flying device can accelerate from 0 to 300km/h in just 2 seconds and reach a theoretical top speed of 510km/h.
Luke Bell said last year he built the world's fastest Red Bull Formula 1 drone, but still felt it was just a prototype and not fast enough.
This year, the father and son decided to improve every aspect of the original Peregrine to create a new drone that is even faster than the Red Bull Formula 1.
Luke Bell and his son spent about 4 months building the latest remote-controlled drone and they also posted the process on YouTube./.
