Celebrating the 101st Birthday of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet

On November 23, 2023, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long province held a flower and incense offering ceremony to Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet on the occasion of the 101st birthday anniversary of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (November 23, 1922 - November 23, 2023).

Attending the event were comrade Tran Van Ron, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Committee ; comrade Bui Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the Provincial People's Council; leaders and former leaders of Vinh Long province through the periods and relatives of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.

Comrade Bui Van Nghiem , member of the Party Central Committee , Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, offered incense to Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, delegates performed the flower and incense offering ceremony and observed a minute of silence to commemorate and pay tribute to Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, an outstanding son of his hometown Vinh Long, an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, a loyal and exemplary communist, an outstanding leader who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause, a life for the country and the people, forever a source of pride and an example for the younger generation to learn from and follow.

Comrade Vo Van Kiet's birth name was Phan Van Hoa, alias Sau Dan, born on November 23, 1922, in Trung Hiep commune, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province. During the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the American imperialists, he was always present on the Southern battlefield, living among the people, taking on many important responsibilities; he and his compatriots, soldiers and armed forces overcame hardships, fierceness, and sacrifice to achieve glorious feats, making an important contribution to the common feats of the nation. During the period of national construction, he always thoroughly grasped and acted very resolutely and creatively in economic development, contributing both thinking and action to the abolition of the subsidy bureaucracy mechanism, planning and implementing the country's renovation policy.

The projects associated with the name of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet include: Tri An Hydropower Plant, the development of Dong Thap Muoi and the Long Xuyen Quadrangle, the 500KV North-South power transmission line, the North Thang Long - Noi Bai road, the Ho Chi Minh road, the Dung Quat Oil Refinery, etc. Many of the country's economic achievements in the years of renovation are the joint efforts of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people, and are also associated with the name and career of Mr. Vo Van Kiet. All of these speak to the dedication and extraordinary efforts of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.

Also on this occasion, Mr. Tran Huu Phuoc, Assistant to Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet during his lifetime, donated valuable letters and documents of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet to the Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet Memorial Site.
