Literature exam
According to the reporter's records, candidates in the province, especially in border areas, ethnic minority areas, and mountainous areas, such as: An Phu , Tri Ton , Thoai Son , Tinh Bien Town, Tan Chau Town, Chau Doc City, gathered at the testing site very early to stabilize their mentality, as well as review the items needed for the test this morning.
Along with that, the An Giangeducation sector has advised students and parents to ensure the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic. Schools have arranged disinfection, reminded candidates to wear masks... and have prepared for cases where candidates have fever or high temperature.
To ensure orderly transportation for parents to pick up and drop off their children at the exam site, ensuring security and traffic safety, police forces and youth union members were mobilized to regulate at the school gate and the area near the school. In the two districts of Cho Moi and Phu Tan, there are plans to ensure ferries/boats to support candidates to get to school promptly and quickly. In addition, the youth volunteer teams "Supporting the exam season" have closely coordinated to support the best conditions for candidates.
At the end of the Literature exam, most candidates were in a relaxed mood, saying that the exam questions were close to reality and relatively suitable for most candidates' abilities. At the same time, there was also a certain differentiation in some high-level application questions.
Through the Literature exam, candidate Neang Lien, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School (Tinh Bien Town), said: “The exam was not too difficult. I did not prepare well for some questions, so I did not do as expected. I did quite well in the reading comprehension section. As for the writing section, I tried to complete the structure of the essay to be able to get 6 points for the entire exam. In the following exams, I will try to get better scores.”
For candidates with a suitable review process, the Literature exam is considered to be within their ability. Candidate Tran Anh Huy, from the Pedagogical Practice High School (Long Xuyen City) happily said: “The exam was quite within my ability. Because I reviewed very carefully, I did quite well in the reading comprehension section. I also felt confident in the writing section because the work "The Village" was also in my preparation process. I think I can get about 8 points in the Literature test. Now, I will try to prepare well for the English exam this afternoon.”
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Trang, a parent waiting for her child in front of Nguyen Hien High School (Long Xuyen City), said: "I have been waiting to pick up my child since morning, full of anxiety about how to do the test. When the school bell rang, I picked my child up and saw his smiling, excited face, I felt relieved. I hope that in the afternoon, my child will also do well in the English test."
Seeing that her son did quite well on the test, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Ngoc, residing in An Hao Commune (Tinh Bien Town), shared: “Hearing my son say that he did okay on the test, I was relieved. Since Literature is not his strong point, I did not set a high score requirement. Maybe, he will have better scores in the following subjects, especially Math. I will always accompany and support him in the following subjects”…
A 9th grade Literature teacher in Long Xuyen City shared: The Literature exam is suitable for the candidates. The structure of the exam is according to the level of differentiation of candidates: Questions 1, 2, 3 are recognition; questions 4, 5 are comprehension, question 6 is application. With this exam, the scores of candidates are very clearly differentiated. Average candidates can get 5 points; good candidates can get 6.5 - 7 points; candidates who are good at studying, studying hard and have good test-taking skills can get 8 points or more.
“The reading comprehension material is in the “Literature 9” exam preparation book in the “Pronouns of Address in Conversation” section. Although the material is not too new or current, it is very meaningful; it talks about the attitude of respect and gratitude towards teachers, the order of seniority of Vietnamese people through the way of addressing. Candidates who want to answer correctly the entire reading comprehension section must have good language skills and good understanding of the text,” this teacher analyzed.
For the literary argument (6.0 points): "Feelings about the character Mr. Hai in the short story "The Village" by writer Kim Lan from the time he heard the news that his village had joined the enemy and when that news was corrected". According to many 9th grade Literature teachers, this is an outstanding work about the love of the village united with the patriotism and resistance spirit of the farmers in the early period of the resistance war against the French. Students need to read the argument carefully to correctly identify the focus as "feelings about the mood"; that is, clarify the development of the mood and internal conflict of the character Mr. Hai from the time he heard the news that the village had joined the enemy until the news was corrected through the unique psychological description of the character by author Kim Lan.
With the essay topic about characters in a story, some candidates who do not have a firm grasp of knowledge and do not read the essay topic carefully may get carried away with the narrative and retelling of the story. Candidates who study hard and meet the requirements of the essay scoring framework (ensure the essay structure, state the essay topic, provide a general introduction about the author and the work, state the location of the excerpt, briefly summarize, know how to develop the essay topic, evaluate the art, ensure spelling, grammar, and expression) can achieve 4/6 points. Candidates who have good writing and expression skills, know how to compare with other works, relate the essay topic to real life, and express profound thoughts can achieve 5 points or more...
According to the An Giang Department of Education and Training, the total number of candidates registered for the exam was 18,738, of which 178 were absent, 18,650 were present, reaching 99.05%. The Literature exam took place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
This afternoon, candidates will take the English test, the test time is 60 minutes; the test starts at 2:15 p.m.
