On the afternoon of May 16, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc received and worked with the delegation of the Ministry of Construction on urging the implementation, inspection and supervision of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction (Project 5); housing support for people with revolutionary contributions; the program of building residential clusters, routes and houses in flooded areas of the Mekong Delta; the project of 1 million social housing units in An Giang province. Leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities also attended.

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc spoke at the meeting.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in An Giang Province for the period 2021 - 2025 (Project 5) with a total number of households receiving housing support under the approved Adjusted Project for the period 2021 - 2025 is 1,252 households (1,232 new houses; 20 houses repaired). Since the beginning of the program, support has been provided to 1,219/1,252 households (1,199 new houses; 20 houses repaired), reaching 97.36% compared to the adjusted project. In 2025, support will be provided to 496 households.

Regarding the implementation of the Housing Support Project for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives in An Giang province in 2025, up to now, the total number of houses started and completed is 464 (138 newly built, 326 repaired), reaching 100% of actual demand and 79.32% of the approved project.

Regarding the implementation of social housing projects in the province, by May 2025, the whole province had completed and opened for sale 1,809 units, and is expected to open for sale 98 more units. The current total is 1,907 units (area of about 209,791m² floor), reaching 76.28% of the target (period 2021 - 2025 is 2,500 units according to Decision 338/QD-TTg). In the province, 4 social housing projects have been and are being implemented, including: Low-rise social housing in the Tay Song Hau New Urban Area; social housing - Golden City An Giang Urban Area; Tay Dai Hoc social housing; Binh Hoa Industrial Park workers' housing.

At the meeting, the People's Committee of An Giang province proposed that the Central Government soon allocate funding sources to support housing for people with revolutionary contributions according to Decision 21/2024/QD-TTg, dated November 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the level of support for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs and the rate of allocation of support capital from the central budget, the rate of counterpart support capital from the local budget in the period 2023 - 2025.

Recommend that the Ministry of Construction consider adjusting Article 2, Decision 55/QD-BXD dated January 20, 2025 guiding the criteria for temporary and dilapidated houses, which stipulates that "must be residential land"; however, currently, most poor and near-poor households have stable housing on land that is suitable for construction planning but is not residential land. At the same time, continue to pay attention, support and create conditions for An Giang province to implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses to achieve the set goals.
