Accordingly, on June 2, Song Tu Tay Island received information that fishing boat QNg 96318 TS, captained by Mr. Duong Thuan (born in 1975, Quang Ngai province), had an engine failure and was unable to maneuver, anchored about 35 nautical miles southeast of the island; there were 12 crew members on board.
Immediately after receiving the information, the island reported to superiors according to regulations; contacted the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center and fishing vessels operating nearby to support towing the distressed vessel to the island for repairs.
At 8:00 p.m. on June 4, fishing boat QNg 96668 TS approached and began towing boat QNg 96318 TS to an area near the island. However, due to high wave conditions, the two boats could only anchor in the Southeast area, about 2 nautical miles from the island.

On the morning of June 7, ship VH 734 was mobilized to approach ship QNg 96318TS to tow it into the dock and bring the crew to the island. Through initial inspection, the health of all 12 crew members was stable, there were no dangerous cases. The authorities assisted in checking and repairing the fishing boat so that it could soon resume its fishing journey at sea.
