Accordingly, the river section where dead fish appeared flowed from Vinh Thuy commune to Vinh Son commune and then joined the Sa Lung and Ben Hai rivers. Shrimp farmers in this area said that the type of dead fish was called chong fish. When discovered in the morning of the same day, the dead fish floated white across a section of the river.

After receiving the news, Vinh Son Commune People's Committee reported to Vinh Linh District People's Committee and related forces and units to the scene to inspect and determine the cause of the fish deaths.

It is known that previously, in 2023, on the Sa Lung River section passing through Vinh Linh district, there was a situation of dead fish. One of the causes of the above situation was due to the river water being polluted by factories and production facilities upstream.
