Up to now, the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels and the construction of a two-level local government model nationwide according to the Central Government's policy have been clearly defined, especially in the merger of provinces and cities.
Accordingly, in addition to 11 provinces and cities that are not merged, 52 provinces and cities will be merged into 23 new provinces and cities. Of which, 2 highland provinces of Dak Nong and Lam Dong will merge with the coastal province of Binh Thuan into a new province. The 3 provinces are now collectively called Lam Dong province, with the largest natural area and population in the country after the merger. According to the Project on rearranging and reorganizing administrative units (ADUs) at all levels and building a 2-level local government organization model (Project) approved by the Government in Decision No. 759/QD-TTg dated April 14, 2025, the new Lam Dong province has a total area of 24,233.1 km2 and a population of 3,324,400 people. It borders Cambodia and the provinces and cities of Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City (where Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong are merged) and the East Sea. Lam Dong province has a land border of 140km and a sea border of 192km, beautiful natural landscapes and diverse climate.

Lam Dong is very rich in tourism potential. This has been seen in reality, the land of Dak Nong is famous for Ta Dung National Park and Ta Dung Lake - "Ha Long Bay in the Central Highlands"; Nam Kar volcanic mountain range is formed from 3 volcanoes including a main cinder cone and two secondary cinder cones. The M'Nong people here still pass down mysterious stories about the formation of Nam Kar volcano, with educational significance, reminding their children not to encroach on natural resources. Besides, there is the Dak Nong border connecting with Cambodia through two border gates Dak Peur (Dak Mil district) and Bup'rang (Tuy Duc district) winding around the cool green pine forest. In addition, there are many majestic waterfalls such as: Lieng Nung waterfall in Dak Nia commune and Trinh Nu waterfall, Dak G'lun waterfall in Cu Jut and Tuy Duc districts...

Next to Lam Dong, there is Da Lat city, which is given many beautiful names by tourists such as "city of thousands of flowers", "city of thousands of pine trees", "city of fog" and "city of love". Because here the climate is mild and cool all year round, there are many beautiful landscapes like paintings. These are Love Valley, Than Tho Lake, Doi Thong Hai Mo, Thac Voi, Xuan Huong Lake, Lang Biang Peak, Truc Lam Zen Monastery, Tuyen Lam Lake... and many other beautiful and attractive destinations. Every year, Da Lat attracts thousands of tourists to visit and relax. Many of them return to visit and relax many times and promise to continue to come back in the future.
At the end of March 2025, Da Lat received two awards: the 2025 Asia Festival Awards in the category of the 2025 Asian Flower and Garden Festival and the Asia Pinnacle Awards in the category of the most environmentally friendly festival voted by the International Festival and Event Association of Asia (IFEA ASIA). Da Lat was also recognized by UNESCO as a global creative city in the field of music.

Along with that is the coastal land of Binh Thuan with blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine. With many famous places at home and abroad such as Mui Ne National Tourist Area, Phu Quy Island is as beautiful as its name. In addition, there is the Duc Thanh School relic site where President Ho Chi Minh taught, Ong Hoang Tower, Po Sah Inu Tower, Ong Dia Stone Beach, Wind Power Field, White Sand Dunes, Co Thach Stone Beach, Cu Lao Cau...
In 2024, Lam Dong will have total tourism revenue ranked 9th out of 10 provinces and cities with the highest tourism revenue in the country, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. Binh Thuan also increased the number of visitors and tourism revenue after operating the expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the South Central provinces. Although tourism has not developed as strongly as Lam Dong and Binh Thuan, Dak Nong has interesting destinations that will also contribute to strong tourism development after the merger. With such a tourism picture, the new Lam Dong province promises to be a "tourist paradise" with high mountains - large lakes - blue sea - beautiful islands.
