General Secretary To Lam meets with Embassy staff and...

Within the framework of the State visit to the Republic of Belarus from May 11 to 12, on the morning of May 12 local time, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus, and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Belarus.

At the meeting, reporting on the situation of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belarus, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations on January 24, 1992, the two countries have maintained and developed traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with increasingly high political trust.

Vietnamese people in Belarus are united, help each other to improve, obey the law, and integrate well into the local society. The Vietnamese community maintains ties with their homeland through community activities.

General Secretary To Lam had a friendly talk with officials, staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Belarus.

Teaching Vietnamese in Belarus is a valuable effort to preserve the Vietnamese language and culture in the overseas Vietnamese community. Currently, Vietnamese classes in Minsk are held on weekends for children aged 7-16. The classes not only help children practice listening, speaking, reading and writing skills but also connect generations with their homeland through cultural activities.

Representatives of the Vietnamese community in Belarus expressed their honor to meet General Secretary To Lam, expressed their pride and emotion when witnessing the strong development in all aspects of the country; thanked the Party and State for their attention to the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in Belarus in particular; wished to be supported in teaching Vietnamese in Belarus...

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam sent warm greetings from his homeland to all the staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belarus, and said that this visit to Belarus aims to affirm Vietnam's interest in and promote cooperation with a traditional friend of the former Soviet Union that has had many ties and supports for Vietnam; at the same time, promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Pleased to meet overseas Vietnamese in Belarus, and inform them about the domestic situation, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that after nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process, under the leadership of the Party, the efforts of the entire political system and all classes of people, the joint efforts and consensus of overseas Vietnamese, and the support of international friends, the country has achieved important achievements in all fields. The political, economic, cultural, social, scientific - technological, defense and security potential has been constantly improved.

General Secretary To Lam said that in the coming time, Vietnam will focus on implementing important strategies, "accelerating" to strive to successfully complete the goals set by the 13th Party Congress; firmly following the path of innovation, taking science, technology and innovation as key driving forces.

General Secretary To Lam had a friendly talk with officials, staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Belarus.

Regarding Vietnam-Belarus relations, the General Secretary affirmed that the two countries have a long-standing traditional friendship, which dates back to the former Soviet Union. Many Belarusian experts have supported Vietnam during the resistance war against the US. Many Vietnamese students and postgraduates have studied in Belarus and made important contributions to Vietnam's development. The two sides maintain close cooperation in important areas such as politics - diplomacy, security - defense; cooperation in the fields of science - technology, education - training, culture - sports - tourism, transportation, and health. Local cooperation is actively maintained.

The General Secretary was pleased to see that the Vietnamese community in Belarus, although not large, is successful and supportive of each other. A number of Vietnamese businesses in Belarus have invested in the country and the community has gradually affirmed its position in the country. The General Secretary believes that the Vietnamese community in Belarus will always uphold the tradition of the descendants of Lac and Hong, working together to build a united and developed community, and to build an increasingly prosperous Vietnam.

Praising the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus for its great efforts in completing its tasks, making an important contribution to fostering the cooperative relationship between the two countries, the General Secretary requested that the Embassy be a warm common home for compatriots, continue to care for and do better work for overseas Vietnamese in the spirit of the Party's directives and resolutions, considering this an important task to achieve the country's development goals.

On this occasion, the General Secretary wished all officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belarus good health, happiness and success; hoped that they would always uphold the tradition of patriotism and join hands for a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
