Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed and issued Decision No. 2360/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on rice trade cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Republic of Singapore.
Specifically, the Decision approves the content of the Memorandum of Understanding on rice trade cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Republic of Singapore (referred to as the Memorandum).
The Prime Minister authorized the Minister of Industry and Trade to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Government of Vietnam with the authorized representative of the Republic of Singapore. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall carry out the authorization procedures as prescribed.
This Decision comes into force from the date of signing (October 25, 2025).
The Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore believes that with the size of the imported rice market in Singapore remaining stable, Vietnamese rice will continue to face strong competition from similar products from India, Thailand and Japan. The Singaporean Government's proposal to sign a bilateral trade agreement on rice with Vietnam may contribute to stabilizing rice exports to Singapore in the coming time.
