Malaysian Prime Minister welcomes Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Heads of Delegations to the 47th ASEAN Summit

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Kuala Lumpur, officially beginning his working trip to Malaysia to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits.

According to VNA, on the morning of October 26, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in the capital Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister of Malaysia - the ASEAN Chair 2025 - Anwar Ibrahim chaired the welcoming ceremony for the Heads of Delegations attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed leaders of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries and organizations, including: the Sultan of Brunei; the Presidents of Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Brazil, and South Africa; the Prime Ministers of Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Canada; the President of the European Council, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Taking place from October 26 to 28, the 47th ASEAN Summit includes nearly 20 meetings and high-level activities. It is expected that the leaders will sign, approve and acknowledge nearly 80 documents to promote cooperation between ASEAN and its partners in many priority areas, especially economics , trade, etc.

In particular, ASEAN is expected to officially admit Timor Leste as the 11th member of the bloc.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led the Vietnamese delegation to the conference, continuing to affirm Vietnam's active participation and responsible contribution to the overall success of the conferences; maintaining solidarity, consensus, and strengthening connectivity within ASEAN; for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in ASEAN and the world.

During the three days in Kuala Lumpur, the Prime Minister is expected to attend and speak at meetings within the framework of the 47th ASEAN Summit; attend the ASEAN Awards Ceremony and the Signing Ceremony of the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste to ASEAN; and attend ASEAN Summits with partners from the United States, China, India, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United Nations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will co-chair the 13th Mekong-Japan Summit; attend the 3rd Zero Net Emissions Asia Community Leaders' Meeting, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, the 28th ASEAN + 3 Summit, the 19th East Asia Summit (EAS), the 5th RCEP Summit, etc.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister had bilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations attending the Conference and many other important activities.

Earlier, in the early morning of October 26, the plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Vietnamese delegation and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Kuala Lumpur, beginning a working trip.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the Malaysian side were Malaysian Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek; Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai; Director of the Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia; Representative of the Prime Minister's Office and Liaison for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh; Embassy staff and representatives of Vietnamese people in Malaysia.
