Like many households in the mountainous area, Ms. Truong Thi Sen used to grow corn in her garden to provide food for her family. In 2012, when the local government launched a poverty reduction project, she registered to participate in the project and was supported with fruit tree seeds and fertilizers to change the crop structure.

Realizing this was an opportunity for economic development, Ms. Truong Thi Sen devoted all her efforts to renovating more than 2,000 m2 of garden land to plant nearly 200 pear trees and 140 peach trees. After several years of persistent care, thanks to pear and peach trees suitable for the local climate and soil conditions, by 2015, the pear garden began to yield harvests.

On average, each year, her family earns about 60 million VND from her pear garden. Since 2020, due to the high demand for vegetables due to tourism in Dong Van Stone Plateau, Ms. Sen has taken advantage of the space under the canopy of fruit trees to grow vegetables. This is a creative step, different from traditional farming. She chooses organic methods, without using chemical fertilizers or pesticides, ensuring that vegetables are always clean and fresh. Her products, such as kohlrabi and cabbage, have been consumed by two large restaurants in Dong Van.

In addition, vegetables are also sold via social networks, with stable output. From the fruit and clean vegetable garden, Ms. Truong Thi Sen's family earns hundreds of millions of VND each year. The garden not only increases income but also opens the way for local tourism development. Every spring, the pear and peach gardens bloom brilliantly, attracting tourists and photographers, making her decide to open them to visitors.

Pear flower garden, creating a beautiful natural picture on the rocky plateau. In early 2025, the first pear flower festival in Pho Bang chose Ms. Sen's pear garden as the highlight. After the flower season, visitors can also pick fruit, enjoy clean fruit, learn about the process of growing organic vegetables and sustainable agricultural models. Ms. Truong Thi Sen is loved by many people for her spirit of sharing and supporting the community.

As Head of the Neighborhood Front Committee, she actively connects farmers, guides everyone to apply the model of growing fruit trees combined with clean vegetables, and gradually builds a value chain for local agricultural products. Notably, she regularly supports women, such as Ms. Mua Thi Giang, a H'Mong ethnic person in Sung La commune, in how to grow clean vegetables for sale.

Previously, Ms. Giang only worked for Ms. Sen's family and never thought of growing vegetables commercially. Thanks to Ms. Sen's guidance from preparing the soil, composting to harvesting, Ms. Giang has confidently grown vegetables, earning about two million VND per month. "Thanks to Ms. Sen, I learned how to grow vegetables for sale, improving my family's income," Ms. Giang emotionally shared.
