For the first time, Vietnam hosted an international stamp exhibition.

On the morning of October 10, the Five Countries Stamp Exhibition - VIETNAM 2024 took place in Hanoi under the auspices of Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPost) and the International Philatelic Federation (FIP).

This is an important international event in the field of Stamps and is also the first time Vietnam has hosted an exhibition of international scale.

With the theme "Moving Forward Together", the Stamp Exhibition will take place for 3 days, from October 10 to October 12, 2024 at Hoan Kiem Central Post Office (No. 75 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ).

The exhibition has a scale of displaying 71 collections (equivalent to 300 frames) of collectors from 5 countries and territories, specifically: Vietnam displays 27 collections (128 frames); Malaysia registers 9 collections (41 frames); Singapore registers 7 collections (27 frames); Thailand registers 9 collections (37 frames); Indonesia registers 13 collections (45 frames); Hong Kong-China (invited guests): registers 6 collections (22 frames).

According to the organizers, the purpose of the exhibition is to strengthen the relationship of cooperation, friendship, and mutual understanding among stamp collectors of ASEAN countries; Provide training to improve the level and skills of forming and upgrading stamp collections to participate in international and world stamp exhibitions for members of the Vietnam Stamp Association.

The exhibition also creates conditions to promote cooperation in the field of stamp collecting, sharing experiences to develop the movement; Exchange implementation plans to develop the stamp collecting movement in the region, aiming at the goal of harmonious development, ensuring the interests of member associations; Cultural exchange, strengthening solidarity and friendship between the Vietnam Stamp Association and the Stamp Associations of ASEAN countries; Affirming the role and position of Vietnam Post, Vietnam in general and the Vietnam Stamp Association in particular in the region and the world.

The Federation of Asia-Pacific Philatelic Associations (FIAP) was established in 1974 in Singapore. It currently has 31 members, including philatelic associations from Asia, Australia and South Africa. Vietnam has been an official member of FIAP since 1993.

Among the professional activities, there is the Stamp Exhibition initiated by some ASEAN countries since 2011, aiming to improve qualifications, share experiences, and develop the stamp collecting movement of members.

Since 2022, with the permission of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Stamp Association has proposed and been approved by the FIAP Executive Board for Vietnam to participate and become the 5th member. This is an annual activity hosted by member countries in rotation.

Within the framework of the Exhibition, there will also be a Seminar on stamp collecting and developing the stamp collecting movement in Vietnam on October 12.

On this occasion, Vietnam Post Corporation also launched two stamp sets: "Welcoming the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024)" and "Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (1874-2024)."

During the 3 days of the exhibition, the Organizing Committee will issue commemorative stamps according to the theme of each exhibition day to serve collectors; the Jury will organize the evaluation of stamp collections submitted to the exhibition./.
