After nearly a year of preparation, the first Congress of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation for the 2023-2028 term took place on the afternoon of April 15 at the Pavillon Tan Son Nhat Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City. Those who are passionate about this sport with the beauty of Vietnamese traditional culture are confident that with the newly established foundation, the Vietnam Lion Dance will reach new heights.
Mr. Le Quoc Huy - Head of the Organizing Committee for the Establishment of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation said: "The Federation was established with the goal of mobilizing maximum resources from organizations and individuals at home and abroad to promote the movement to develop more and more strongly, improve people's health and life, meet the training and entertainment needs of all classes of people in society; enhance the position and achievements of Vietnam Lion Dance in general in regional, continental and world arenas, the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation will aim to build and develop the Lion Dance movement throughout the country, improve international achievements, in line with the development trend of society, gradually integrate the Lion Dance with the region, continent and the world".
The Presidium of the Congress also approved the direction of operation, vision and personnel consolidation for the first term. Accordingly, Doctor ofEducational Sciences Pham Quang Long - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IVS Vietnam International School System was elected and became Chairman of the Vietnam Lion and Dragon Dance Federation for the 2023-2028 term.

The Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation include: Mr. Luu Kiem Xuong (People's Artist), Mr. Luong Tan Hang (People's Artist), Ms. Trinh Kim Chi (Meritorious Artist, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association), Mr. Lam Thanh Dung (Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province), Mr. Lam Nhat Dan (General Director of Van Hoa Holding Group), Mr. Do Dinh Diem (Director of the High Performance Center of Nam Dinh province), Mr. Nguyen Trong Trinh (People's Artist, film director), Mr. Dinh Manh Tuong (Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Sports and Physical Training Center), Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan (Head of the Hanoi Sports and Dance Department). Mr. Le Quoc Huy - Former Editor-in-Chief of the Sports Newspaper Today is the General Secretary of the Federation.

Doctor of Educational Sciences Pham Quang Long - Chairman of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation said: "The Lion Dance has been developing widely all over the world, but through that sport, to convey the values of life, human ethics and light up hope for everyone is the truly noble thing. I believe that the Congress to establish the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation will be a great milestone for the Lion Dance in Vietnam".
Director, People's Artist Nguyen Trong Trinh - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation said: "From North to South, every region has Lion Dance Federations and Associations. That is the reason why we want to have a large, legitimate Federation, supported by ministries, departments, the State, especially the localities united to gather together towards the future.
For Vietnamese people, I think there is no one in our lives, from young to old, who does not know or is attached to the image of the lion and dragon. It is present in daily life, from festivals, Tet, business openings, business, entertainment... We hold the Congress today with 63 members as delegates in the executive committee. They represent 63 provinces and cities and have been a great success.

This will be the premise for the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation for the 2023-2028 term to open up new opportunities for localities to exchange and compete domestically, and select talents to compete internationally. This is also an urgent need in society, to unite together to upgrade each other. In the future, the Federation will develop Lion Dance widely, further enhance international integration opportunities, and promote the socialization of Lion Dance in Vietnam. The Federation will also participate in high-performance sports, with coaches, referees, and athletes trained and operating systematically, competing abroad, bringing fame to Vietnamese sports.
Artist Luu Kiem Xuong, who has been the head of Nhon Nghia Duong since 1971, is famous for the "Nhon Nghia Duong" Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe and said: "Previously, people only knew that Lion and Dragon Dance was an activity that brought good luck, fortune, peace, and fortune and was only performed at festivals, cultural events, opening ceremonies, especially on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year. However, from now on, it can be said that Lion and Dragon Dance has reached a new level. I am very happy that the children will have the opportunity to develop and assert themselves."
