On the morning of May 24, at the National Funeral House - No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi , the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front solemnly held a State Funeral Ceremony for former President Tran Duc Luong.

Writing in the condolence book at the funeral, General Secretary To Lam emotionally wrote: “Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong - a staunch Communist Party member, a devoted and exemplary leader, an outstanding son of the heroic homeland of Quang Ngai , rich in revolutionary traditions.

Comrade Tran Duc Luong devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Nation. In all his positions, he always demonstrated steadfast political will, pure moral qualities, scientific and dedicated working methods; had a simple and modest lifestyle, was close to comrades, brothers, and the people... and was respected by comrades, brothers, friends, and the people.

Comrade's passing is a great loss to our Party, State and people. We respectfully bow before his spirit and send our deepest condolences to his family.

Farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong, President Luong Cuong wrote: “Comrade Tran Duc Luong was an outstanding leader of our Party and State, a shining example of dedication and wholehearted service to the Fatherland and the people. He devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. His passing is a great loss to our Party, State and people.

We will always remember your great contributions. Although you have passed away, the good values ​​you left behind will forever be a source of encouragement for generations of cadres, party members and our people to continue to firmly step forward on the path of building a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic, prosperous and civilized Vietnam.

In this moment of sorrow, I, along with all my compatriots and comrades, would like to express our deepest condolences and deepest sympathies to the entire family of comrade Tran Duc Luong! Farewell, comrade Tran Duc Luong!”

Leading the Government delegation to pay their respects, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh wrote in the condolence book: “We deeply mourn the passing of comrade Tran Duc Luong - a loyal and excellent leader of our Party, State and people. We would like to express our deepest condolences to comrade Tran Duc Luong's family for this pain and loss.

Comrade Tran Duc Luong, at 88 years old and 66 years of Party membership, has devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party, State and people. During his activities and leadership of the country, he has always shown himself to be a leader with strategic vision, close to reality, and taking effectiveness as the highest measure.

His life of work and dedication is a shining example for our cadres, soldiers and people to follow. Learning from comrade Tran Duc Luong, we vow to do our best and contribute to the revolutionary cause of our Party and people, for the cause of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization!”

In an emotional voice, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man wrote in the condolence book: “Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He made great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation.

During his participation in the revolution, the Party and the State trusted him and assigned him many important responsibilities. No matter what position he held, he wholeheartedly served the revolution and the people, and was absolutely loyal to the Party. The Party, the State and the people will always cherish his great contributions.

I respectfully pay my respects to the soul of comrade Tran Duc Luong. My deepest condolences to the family and the entire bereaved family of comrade Tran Duc Luong. Sincerely!”

Writing in the condolence book, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emotionally wrote: “With deep sorrow for comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President, the delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front respectfully lights incense and respectfully bows to bid farewell to beloved comrade Tran Duc Luong.
