Binh Duong province leaders visit and congratulate world champion Lai Ly Huynh

The 2023 World Chinese Chess Championship took place in Houston, Texas, USA from November 19 to 24, which was also the first time the tournament was held in the US. There were 13 participating teams, including teams from outside Asia such as England, Germany, Canada and the host country. The Vietnamese team had 16 players participating in the tournament, including player Lai Ly Huynh from Binh Duong.

Chess player Lai Ly Huynh thanked the leaders of Binh Duong province for visiting and congratulating him on his Gold Medal achievement at the 2023 World Chess Championship.

Competing with great determination and for the country's flag, player Lai Ly Huynh helped the Vietnamese chess team surpass many countries, excellently winning the individual gold medal in rapid chess, and also contributing 1 individual silver medal in standard chess and 1 team silver medal. In addition, at the 19th Asian Games (Asiad Games 19), taking place from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou (China), player Lai Ly Huynh contributed 1 team silver medal and 1 individual bronze medal in standard chess.

At the meeting, Lai Ly Huynh shared about the preparation process, the determination through each match, especially the happiness when his name was called to step up to the highest podium to receive the award. Ky Thuy, born in 1990, also sent his thanks to the provincial leaders and the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for always creating the best conditions for athletes to practice and compete with peace of mind, and especially the provincial leaders and the Department leaders for always giving timely encouragement and attention.

Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Cao Van Chong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers and gifts to congratulate the couple of chess player Lai Ly Huynh.

On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented flowers and gifts to congratulate and commend the chess player Lai Ly Huynh, the Binh Duong Chinese Chess Department and especially his family, who have always stood side by side to support Lai Ly Huynh, being a solid support for him to feel secure in practicing and dedicating himself to the achievements of Binh Duong province's sports in particular and Vietnam's sports in general. The achievements of Lai Ly Huynh are a great encouragement, adding spiritual strength for generations of talented athletes of Binh Duong to promote tradition, maintain and aim for more important and noble goals.

Leaders of Binh Duong province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism took souvenir photos with chess player Lai Ly Huynh and his wife at their home.

Binh Duong provincial leaders hope that with the current foundation, in the future Lai Ly Huynh will continue to promote his full potential to achieve even more noble achievements, contributing to the overall success of the country's sports. At the same time, provincial leaders request the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to pay attention to creating the best conditions for facilities, equipment, nutrition and research and propose preferential policies and regimes for athletes so that they can confidently devote themselves to the cause of physical education and sports.

The achievements of Binh Duong athletes at recent world championships have clearly demonstrated the proper, reasonable, effective and professional attention and investment of the Binh Duong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in recent times, as well as the attention and correct orientation of Binh Duong Provincial Leaders towards the province's sports.
