Training in practical skills of the Bai Choi art heritage

VHO - The Bai Choi practical skills training class not only contributes to teaching, preserving and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage of the art of Bai Choi, but also promotes the cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level, contributing to building a rich spiritual life for the local community.

On May 20, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province held the opening ceremony of a training course on practicing the art heritage of Bài Chòi - 2024 in Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province.

The training course was attended by 92 students who were musicians, members of art clubs and groups, vocal teachers and students from communes and towns in Thang Binh district. In particular, the course attracted a large number of primary and secondary school students in Thang Binh district.

The class is taught directly by musician Nguyen Tinh (Quang Nam Opera and Drama Troupe) and artist Nguyen Van Quy (Center for Culture - Sports and Radio - Television of Hoi An City).

Training contents include: Introduction to the origin of Bai Choi in the Central region; Methods of organizing and maintaining activities of folk Bai Choi clubs and groups; Instructions on organizing Bai Choi festivals in Quang region; Practice performing folk melodies, Ly, Ho, Ve, and calling and singing Bai Choi...

This is one of the activities to implement Resolution No. 08/2024/NQ-HDND (dated January 23, 2024) of the People's Council of Quang Nam province on regulating the content and level of support for preserving and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of the Art of Bài Chòi in the province for the period 2024 - 2030 (Resolution No. 08).

At the same time, implement Plan No. 2648/KH-UBND (dated April 4, 2025) of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province on implementing Resolution No. 08 in the area in 2025.

The plan aims to ensure the implementation of the goals of preserving and selectively promoting the intangible cultural heritage values ​​of the art of Bài Chòi in the province in association with sustainable development. Nurturing, training, and teaching the next generation of young artists and actors...

According to the Plan, Resolution 08 will be implemented in 13 districts, towns and cities in the province in 2025. This is the 16th training course organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam in the localities and also the first course in 2025. In the coming time, 2 more training courses will be opened in Que Son and Hiep Duc districts.

Previously, Van Hoa reported that the People's Council of Quang Nam province, term X, passed Resolution No. 08 stipulating the level of support for preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage value of the art of Bai Choi in Quang Nam province, period 2024 - 2030.

The total cost of implementing the project is more than 23.6 billion VND, of which the provincial budget is more than 17.8 billion VND, the rest is from local budgets, deployed in 18 districts, towns and cities across the province.
