Erosion and degradation make Xuan Thuy Street in Ha Giang 2 Ward unsafe.

The impact of storm No. 10 and floods caused Xuan Thuy Street to be eroded, with some sections having holes dug into the middle of the roadbed.

Due to the impact of storm No. 10, the floodwaters pouring down from above were so large that a steep road section of more than 200m here was severely affected. The drainage ditches near the road were deeply and widely eroded by the flood, in some places the ditches were gouged almost to the center of the road; in some parts the ditches were eroded into holes more than 2m deep. From then on, if there continues to be heavy rain or heavy trucks passing by, this road will be at risk of the entire roadbed collapsing.

Not only eroded, Xuan Thuy road has been degraded over the years and had to be patched up with concrete by local people's contributions.

On some sections, hills and trees on the slope continue to be at risk of collapsing and falling onto Xuan Thuy Street. According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Quan, Head of the Front Work Committee of Group 3, Ha Giang 2 Ward, not only was this road eroded by storm No. 3, it has also deteriorated over the years with many sections of the road surface damaged. Group 3 currently has 240 households, 800 people, plus a large number of people from Phong Quang regularly traveling through this section of road. Faced with the erosion and deterioration of Xuan Thuy Street, people voluntarily contributed money to repair the road, households with cars contributed 2 million VND, households with motorbikes contributed 500,000 VND. Households without money contributed labor to patch up bad sections of the road so that vehicles could pass.

Faced with erosion and deep holes on Xuan Thuy Street, people have put up ropes to help pedestrians easily identify them and avoid safety risks at night.

If there continues to be heavy rain or heavy trucks passing by, this road is at risk of being eroded.

Faced with the erosion on Xuan Thuy Street, Ha Giang 2 Ward has placed information signs in areas at risk of landslides in the Thach Lam Vien Ecological Area section. According to Ms. Vu Phuong Thao, Team Leader of Team 3, Ha Giang 2 Ward, in response to the danger of deep ditches close to the road, especially at night, people have placed stakes and stretched ropes in sections with deep and wide eroded ditches to help warn passersby to proactively avoid dangerous deep ditches and holes. However, to overcome, repair, and restore road sections with heavily eroded ditches, deep holes, etc., to ensure the safety of people and protect the roadbed, the province and ward need to pay attention and resources soon.
