Provincial leaders inspect disaster prevention work in Phu Vinh and Phu Hoa communes.

(DN) - On the morning of November 25, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, head of the working delegation of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Dong Nai province, worked with Phu Vinh and Phu Hoa communes on the damage caused by natural disasters in the locality.

According to the report of Phu Vinh Commune People's Committee, in the commune there are 40 rafts belonging to 5 households with a total of about 77 tons of damaged fish, equivalent to nearly 2.7 billion VND. The Commune People's Committee has counted the damage, instructed people to brace and move rafts to a safe place; regularly monitored weather developments to warn people. The locality also proactively reviewed, developed plans, prepared means, tools, and human resources according to the 4-on-the-spot motto; arranged forces on duty 24/24 to grasp the situation, promptly report and prepare plans to evacuate people and property, ensuring safety for people in the affected area. The Commune government also promptly visited and gave gifts of encouragement to the affected households.

Phu Hoa commune has also proactively prevented natural disasters. Many times, the water level rose, more than 1,000 hectares of crops were flooded, of which about 600 hectares of crops were damaged.

In addition to the work of preventing and overcoming the consequences, the local government has mobilized all forces to participate in flood prevention. Up to now, the commune has saved 200 hectares of crops thanks to timely handling. The locality has proposed the Provincial People's Committee to consider and promptly support the affected people; and proposed to soon implement the La Nga River Flood Prevention Embankment project...

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang emphasized: In the coming time, localities must not be subjective or negligent in prevention and control work to minimize damage when natural disasters occur.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Defense Command of Regions 2 and 3 (Dong Nai Provincial Military Command) and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, along with relevant departments and branches, to review the coordination regulations and responsibilities of each agency in natural disaster prevention and control. In particular, attention must be paid to updating information and promptly reporting on forecasting, implementing natural disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue.
