Lao Cai: Fansipan peak has the first frost

Due to the temperature dropping below 0 degrees Celsius, in the early morning of November 21, light frost appeared around the top of Fansipan (Ta Van commune, Lao Cai). It is forecasted that on the night of November 22, frost will likely continue to occur.

Due to the temperature dropping below 0 degrees Celsius, early this morning (November 21), light frost appeared around the Fansipan peak (Ta Van commune, Lao Cai ). This is the first frost to appear on Fansipan peak in the winter of 2025 - 2026.

The cause of this phenomenon is that on the night of November 21, cold air affected areas in the province, causing the phenomenon of low cloud in the high mountains.

This leads to large ground radiation at night, causing the temperature to drop sharply. The temperature at the top of Fansipan drops below 0 degrees Celsius and frost forms.

According to tourists and locals, the frost occurred around the morning of November 21 with a light intensity, covering the road, stone steps, and wooden floors for tourists to watch the clouds with a thin white layer.

The cold air affecting Lao Cai continues to slowly change and stabilize. It is forecasted that the temperature in the Fansipan mountain area will remain low at night and morning on November 22, and frost is likely to continue to occur there.

Frost is an extreme weather phenomenon, not beneficial for crops, affecting agricultural production. Lao Cai province has been proactively responding to the increasing cold air; actively implementing measures to prevent and protect people, crops and livestock from the cold in the area.
