Fishing boat capsizes, one person missing

Quang Nam Heavy rain, the fishing boat of Mr. Vo Van Linh and his wife in Thang Binh district capsized on the Truong Giang river, the wife was rescued, the husband went missing.

At around 3am on October 15, Mr. Vo Van Linh, 43 years old, and his wife rowed a boat to the Truong Giang River flowing through Binh Giang Commune, Thang Binh District to cast nets to catch shrimp and fish. Suddenly, heavy rain and strong winds caused the boat to capsize.

Two people fell into the river. Mr. Linh's wife was rescued by people near the accident site, but her husband was swept away and went missing.

Rescue forces are searching, but as of this afternoon the victim has not been found.

Quang Nam is located in the rainy area due to the influence of cold air and the tropical convergence zone. This morning, some low-lying areas in Tam Ky City had half a meter of water entering their houses. Some streets could not drain in time, causing 0.3 meter of flooding. Tam Ky City authorities mobilized 15 elderly and lonely households to move to safety.

In Hoi An city, Bach Dang street located along the Hoai river was flooded in some sections, the deepest being 0.3 m.

The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that heavy rains and floods in the past few days have killed two people in Ha Tinh and Thua Thien Hue. More than 1,500 houses were flooded, mainly in Da Nang; hundreds of traffic points in Quang Binh , Thua Thien Hue, and Da Nang were flooded and isolated; more than 67 hectares of crops were flooded.
