Attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh; Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Anh - Deputy Head of Professional Department, Office of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, members of the Organizing Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors and 600 team members and students in the province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized: Olympic Day is not only an occasion to honor sports achievements but also an opportunity for each citizen and each family to be more aware of the importance of physical exercise. This will contribute to building a healthy community, contributing to the sustainable development of the homeland. Along with that, the mobilization of the whole population to practice swimming, prevent and combat drowning, with the desire to aim towards the goal of protecting the lives and health of everyone, especially children, because drowning is always a potential danger, directly threatening the safety of students in the summer. Therefore, practicing swimming skills is extremely important and necessary.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism called on parents, teachers, agencies, units and localities to actively carry out propaganda activities, disseminate knowledge and skills on drowning prevention and each person will be an active propagandist to encourage their friends and relatives to learn to swim and equip themselves with knowledge and skills on drowning prevention and ensuring safety in the water environment, especially for students. From there, raise awareness, minimize drowning accidents, help children confidently play and participate in outdoor activities in the summer safely.
Speaking in response to the movement, Nguyen Hong Viet An - Student of Phan Boi Chau High School (Phan Thiet City) sincerely thanked and was extremely excited to receive the attention of leaders at all levels and sectors who organized summer activities with many rich, diverse and attractive contents and forms so that children could have many playgrounds to experience, have fun and exchange usefully. At the same time, I promise to participate well in summer activities and actively respond to the Action Month "For Children in 2025". Try to make efforts, strive in studying and training to be worthy of being a good child, good student, good team member, good nephew of Uncle Ho so as not to disappoint parents and the love of leaders for them.
After the opening ceremony, delegates, team members and students participated in a 900m run in response to the program.
It is known that the Olympic Day, the Summer Opening Ceremony and the launch of the national swimming practice to prevent drowning are meaningful activities that not only respond to the Action Month "For Children" in 2025, the International Olympic Movement (June 23, 1894 - June 23, 2025) but also aim to promote the benefits and effects of physical exercise. In particular, swimming will practice safety skills in the water environment, contributing to reducing drowning accidents in the community.
