On the morning of April 2, at the Khanh Hoa Provincial Convention Center, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nha Trang City solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction and development of Nha Trang City (1924 - 2024), and the 15th anniversary of Nha Trang being recognized as a class I city under Khanh Hoa Province (2009-2024). Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Party, State, and central ministries and branches, including Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Hong Ha - Party Central Committee member - Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Party Central Committee member, Minister of Construction , Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Party Central Committee member, Minister of Home Affairs, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Party Central Committee member, Secretary of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, and leaders of provinces in the region, including: Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen.

Nha Trang develops rapidly

In 1924, King Khai Dinh issued an edict to establish Nha Trang town from the lower reaches of the Cai River. From a relatively primitive fishing village, Nha Trang has grown into a dynamic, modern city. Currently, Nha Trang has a natural area of nearly 252km2. Currently, Nha Trang City has 27 administrative units, including 19 wards and 8 communes with a population of more than 430,000 people, a coastline of about 43km. The art program with songs and dances praising Nha Trang and close-up films introduced the beauty of Nha Trang land and people, the depth of Nha Trang's culture and history, and the city's remarkable development.

At the ceremony, Nha Trang City Party Secretary Ho Van Mung delivered a speech reviewing the 100-year process of building and developing Nha Trang City. Accordingly, over the past century, the Party Committee, government and people of Nha Trang have always believed in the Party, followed the Party, and together with the people of Khanh Hoa province and the whole country, wrote heroic pages of national history. In particular, the 101-day and night Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa resistance war (from October 23, 1945 to February 1, 1946) contributed to creating conditions for the whole province and the whole country to have time to prepare for a long-term resistance war. In the spring of 1975, the army and people of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa coordinated with the main force to attack and liberate Nha Trang town on April 2, 1975, contributing to the great victory of spring 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. In recognition of its great contributions in the two resistance wars against France and the United States, in 1999, the army and people of Nha Trang were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

After the reunification of the country on April 30, 1975, the Party Committee, government and people of the city continued to promote the heroic revolutionary tradition, dynamism, creativity, and unity, achieving many important achievements in all fields of politics, economy, culture, society, national defense and security. By 2009, Nha Trang City was recognized by the Prime Minister as a class 1 urban area under Khanh Hoa province. During the 15-year period as a class 1 urban area under Khanh Hoa province, the city's socio-economic development had remarkable achievements. Overcoming difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2022 and 2023, the city achieved 22/23 set targets, of which in 2022, the budget revenue exceeded the assigned target by more than 1,000 billion VND, and up to now, many targets have been higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic. The work of Party building, government building in particular and the political system in general has always been focused, strengthened, in-depth and achieved many outstanding results, especially in improving the leadership capacity of Party committees at all levels and maintaining internal solidarity. The work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity has always been focused on. The work of planning, creating sources, and arranging the use of cadres has ensured quality and efficiency; the administrative apparatus has been streamlined, operating effectively and efficiently... The health, education and training sector has always received investment attention and made positive progress; national defense and security have been maintained, social order has been stable; the appearance of urban, rural and island areas has many innovations and is spacious; the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved and clearly enhanced...

The Provincial People's Committee awarded the decision approving the Green Transformation and Green Growth Project of Nha Trang for the period 2024-2030.

Towards a prosperous and happy city

The context of the 100th anniversary of the construction and development of Nha Trang City is also the time when the Party Committee, government and people of the city strive to successfully carry out the tasks set out in Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW, dated January 28, 2022 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, in which Nha Trang City is identified as a core urban area, one of the three key socio-economic regions of the province. "Nha Trang City has also determined to build and develop a prosperous, civilized, and happy city in the direction of "Green Transformation, Green Growth" on the basis of maximizing the cultural values and people of Nha Trang. This is both a strategic goal and a strong driving force, as well as a very important political task for the Party Committee, government, and people of Nha Trang City in the coming time," said Nha Trang City Party Secretary Ho Van Mung.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the leaders of Khanh Hoa province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh respectfully accepted the Deputy Prime Minister's direction in implementing the key tasks that the city needs to focus on in the coming time, especially in implementing the project to adjust the General Planning of Nha Trang city. The project presents the strategy, overall architecture, model, green growth measurement and monitoring indicators, specific projects, initiatives and implementation roadmap to accelerate the green transformation and green growth in key sectors where the city has advantages including: Green tourism, Green industry, Green agriculture, Green urban infrastructure, Green transport and Green lifestyle.
