"Divine Rice" procession in Tu Xa commune

On the morning of February 9 (January 12, At Ty year), after the Mat ceremony in the Tro Tram Festival took place at midnight on January 11 and 12, Tu Xa commune, Lam Thao district held a "Divine Rice" procession with the hope of praying for a good harvest and prosperity for everyone.

The "Divine Rice" procession represents the traditional cultural beauty of the people of Tu Xa commune, closely associated with the rice farming tradition for generations.

The procession of “Divine Rice” starts from Tro Temple to Tram Temple, goes around the village communal house and then returns to Tro Temple. The most important offering in the ceremony is the sacred rice cluster (a cluster of long-flowered, plump-grained glutinous rice harvested from the previous year’s crop in the commune), plus a sugarcane with all its tops stuck into a vase placed on a palanquin with incense, flowers, fruits, betel, areca nuts, etc. Both the cluster of rice and the sugarcane symbolize the sacred rice.

The procession started from Tro temple to Tram temple, passed the village communal house and returned to Tro temple.

In the procession, the first team is the team carrying the divine flag, followed by the teams: carrying the bowl, carrying the divine rice, the officials, performing the "Four people's professions", and finally the delegates and people in the commune and district. The procession arrives at the yard of the Tro temple, the elders will perform the Ten Bowing Ceremony. At the end of the "Divine Rice" procession, the people gather at the Tro temple to receive blessings.

The "Divine Rice" procession in Tu Xa commune is not only a ritual to pray for a good harvest but also an indispensable part of the spiritual life of the people.
