According to Mr. Ho Tan Minh, it is expected that around tomorrow evening, June 26, the mass 10th grade benchmark scores of 113 public high schools will be announced.
VietNamNet Newspaper will update the fastest admission scores for grade 10 public schools in Ho Chi Minh City for candidates and parents to look up.
Immediately after the benchmark scores are announced, candidates compare their test scores with the three registered preferences. Candidates are only admitted to one preference.
From 3:00 p.m. June 26 to 4:00 p.m. July 1, candidates confirm online enrollment in the remaining high schools at: https://ts10.hcm.edu.vn.
From July 3 to July 10, successful candidates in all types of admission will carry out admission procedures directly at the confirmed high school through the online system.
Based on the score distribution, many teachers predict that the standard will increase or decrease in each group of schools.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao Khoi, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the three score distributions of Math, Literature, and English show that English has the highest and most concentrated score distribution; Literature has the most stable score distribution, with an insignificant deviation, consistent with the characteristics of a subject that focuses on perceptual thinking; Math has a high level of differentiation.
Regarding the score distribution of Literature, the distribution is asymptotically normal with the peak at around 6 to 7 points, in which the number of candidates achieving this level fluctuates from 5,000 to nearly 6,000 students. This reflects the relative stability in the results of this subject, showing that the exam is suitable for the ability of 9th grade students.
Based on the low competition rate and the decrease in the number of candidates compared to the previous school year, combined with the slight increase in the Math and Literature scores, but the decrease in Foreign Language scores, Mr. Bao Khoi believes that the general benchmark score may remain stable or decrease slightly. Compared to last year, it is expected that the top schools above may decrease slightly by 0.5 points.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Pham Hong Danh, Head of the Department of Basic Mathematics (Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics ) said that, without discussing Literature or English because the test scores did not fluctuate much, the most obvious change was in Mathematics. This year, only more than 28,000 candidates had a Math score below 5. However, in general, about 98% of candidates taking the Math exam had a score of 8.5 or lower. Only 2% of candidates had a score higher than 8.5, which shows that Math has clearly differentiated questions.
According to Mr. Danh, the average score of the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City is higher than last year, but the benchmark score is lower. The reason is that the competition rate for admission to schools is low because of the increase in enrollment quota. Meanwhile, the number of candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City has decreased sharply. Schools will have to calculate to meet the enrollment quota, so the benchmark score is certainly lower than last year by 0.5 to 1 point.
Meanwhile, a teacher in District 1 said that because the exam scores this year are high, the admission score will definitely increase compared to last year. However, it will not increase too much or dramatically, but only slightly. Top schools predict that admission scores will increase slightly. For schools with many candidates registering, there will definitely be significant fluctuations.
Mr. Tuan Anh, Thu Duc High School also predicted that the benchmark scores of some top and bottom schools are likely to increase. In which, the bottom schools are likely to increase more because this year's Math exam is easier and the remaining subjects are quite stable. Meanwhile, many schools in the middle group are predicted to have a slight decrease in benchmark scores.
Mr. Lam Vu Cong Chinh, a teacher at Nguyen Du High School, predicted that this year's benchmark score would increase by 1.5-2 points. In particular, the top schools will increase sharply compared to last year.
