Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department is comparing and running the final steps of benchmark data. At 6 p.m., the benchmark scores for more than 110 public schools will be announced.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 76,000 candidates taking the 10th grade exam. The public 10th grade enrollment rate in Ho Chi Minh City is 91.6%. If candidates choose a school that suits their learning ability and is located close to their home, almost everyone will be sure to get into a public school.
Admission score for grade 10 high school is usually the total score of the exam subjects: Admission score = Literature score + English score + Math score + Priority points, incentive points (if any).
Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the 10th grade exam scores. The Literature subject has scores ranging from 5 to 7. 85.1% of the exams have scores of 5 or higher; 14.9% of the exams have scores below average. The score with the most candidates achieving is 7 with 5,936 students. Next is 6.5 points with 5,718 students and 6 points with 5,491 students. This reflects the ability to study and do Literature subject for 10th grade of Ho Chi Minh City candidates is quite good.
However, the number of candidates achieving 8 points or higher is not too much, of which, 3,543 candidates achieved 8 points, 2,191 candidates achieved 8.25 points. The number of candidates achieving 9 points or higher is also limited, with only 179 candidates achieving 9 points, 22 candidates achieving 9.25 points and 2 candidates achieving 9.5 points. There are no candidates with 10 points in Literature.
In Mathematics, 28,028 candidates scored below 5 points, equivalent to 36.7% of the total number of candidates taking the exam. The number of candidates scoring above average was 48,328, accounting for 63.4% of the total number of candidates taking the exam. Compared to previous years, this year's Math scores are quite high. The Math score range ranges from 4 to 8, with 7 being the score with the most candidates achieving 4,580; followed by 6.75 with 4,345 students. In Mathematics, 36 candidates scored 10 points.
English also has a common score ranging from 5 to 9. The number of candidates with below average scores is 24,081, equivalent to 31.5%. The number of candidates with scores above 5 is 52,370, equivalent to 68.5%. This year, English has 488 scores of 10.
The entire 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 had only 524 scores of 10, a 3-fold decrease compared to 2024, when Math had 49 and English had 1,707 scores of 10.
Based on the exam scores, many teachers predict that the benchmark scores for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City this year will fluctuate. Some opinions say that the benchmark scores will decrease due to the low competition rate and the decrease in the number of candidates compared to the previous school year, combined with a slight increase in the average scores for Math and Literature, but a decrease in Foreign Language. The overall benchmark scores may remain stable or decrease slightly. Compared to last year, it is expected that the top schools above may decrease slightly by 0.5 points.
In addition, the number of candidates taking the 10th grade exam in Ho Chi Minh City has decreased sharply, so schools will have to calculate to meet enrollment targets, so the benchmark score will certainly be 0.5 to 1 point lower than last year.
However, there are opinions that the benchmark scores of some top and bottom schools are likely to increase. In which, the bottom schools are likely to increase higher because this year's Math test is easier and the remaining subjects are quite stable.
According to Mr. Ho Tan Minh, it is expected that around the afternoon of June 26, the general 10th grade benchmark scores of 113 public high schools will be announced. After knowing the benchmark scores, from 3:00 p.m. on June 26 to 4:00 p.m. on July 1, candidates will confirm their online enrollment in high schools at the address: https://ts10.hcm.edu.vn.
From July 3 to July 10: Successful candidates will carry out admission procedures directly at the confirmed high school through the online system.
