With the support of the US Embassy and the Asia Foundation, the American Studies program was established at the school in 2003 and officially became the Department of American Studies in 2004. Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong shared that the school is not only a training and research center, but also an important policy advisory body of the Party and State. To carry out that mission, a deep and balanced understanding of major partners, especially the United States, is of key importance.
“For us, American Studies is not just a field of study, it is also a gateway for Vietnamese youth to understand one of the most influential countries in the world; thereby participating in constructive dialogues on global issues. Therefore, the long-term cooperative relationship with the US Embassy plays a very important role in enriching the training program, promoting research and expanding opportunities for students and lecturers” - Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized.

Within the framework of the series of events, right after the opening session, the contest "Learning about the United States" took place to further spread the interest and understanding of the country and people of the United States among Vietnamese youth, especially university students, as well as to enhance understanding, pioneering spirit, readiness to contribute, and strengthen the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the United States.
