In addition, Mr. Antonio Guterres called for the reopening of border crossings so that essential aid such as food, medicine and fuel can enter Gaza, which is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the blockade that has lasted for more than a month. In addition, Mr. Guterres also emphasized that the displacement of Palestinians from their territory is contrary to international law and called for a two-state solution to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of food shortages and dire living conditions in affected areas, and called on the international community to act urgently to provide aid and protect civilians.

Previously, on April 7, Arab News reported that since restarting the war against Hamas forces in the Gaza Strip last month, Israel has controlled more than 50% of this territory and is forcing Palestinians into increasingly narrow areas.

Israel says the tightening of control is a temporary need to pressure Hamas to release the remaining hostages it is holding. However, human rights groups and Gaza experts say the areas occupied by Israel, including a corridor dividing the northern and southern parts of the territory, could be used to gain permanent control.
