A series of semiconductor industry giants come to Vietnam to seek investment cooperation opportunities

The exhibition is organized by the National Innovation Center - NIC (under the Ministry of Planning and Investment ) in collaboration with the Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SEMI) from November 7 to 8 in Hanoi.

On October 23, at a press conference before the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition - SemiExpo Vietnam 2024, Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of NIC, said the theme of the exhibition is to elevate Vietnam in the global semiconductor supply chain.

This is the first time the exhibition has been held and attracted the participation of major semiconductor corporations in the world and Vietnam such as: Global Foundries, Amkor, AMD, Lam Research, Coherent, Cadence, KLA, Synopsys, Intel, Marvell, Onsemi, Qorvo,FPT ...

It is expected that about 5,000 delegates and 100 booths of major global semiconductor corporations will participate in the exhibition.

Mr. Huy said that the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition - SemiExpo Vietnam 2024 is a proactive step of the Ministry of Planning and Investment in its role as a strategic advisory agency for socio -economic development, to carry out the tasks in the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and the Human Resource Development Program for the Semiconductor Industry.

Focusing on promoting international cooperation to mobilize resources for the development of the semiconductor industry, connecting investment and business between domestic and foreign enterprises to develop an ecosystem of supporting industries, attracting investment from leading corporations and enterprises in the world in the semiconductor field.

Providing more information about the exhibition, Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of NIC, said that the event brought together many corporations in the semiconductor industry to Vietnam. These corporations participating in the exhibition operate in all stages of the semiconductor industry such as design, manufacturing, testing, packaging and semiconductor material production.

Up to now, there are about 30 large global semiconductor enterprises and corporations that have said they will participate in the exhibition, many of which play an important role in the global semiconductor industry.

Ms. Linda Tan, President of SEMI Southeast Asia, commented that the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition - SemiExpo Vietnam 2024 is an important event for Vietnam - an emerging country in the global semiconductor supply chain.

“This event serves as a platform for collaboration, innovation and strategic partnerships and the Global Semiconductor Association hopes to contribute to driving the next phase of growth for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region,” she said.

According to the Global Semiconductor Association, with an average growth rate of about 6.69%/year in the period 2023-2028, the size of Vietnam's semiconductor market will reach 7.01 billion USD by 2028.
