Recently, the International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University) issued a warning about "fake admission notices" intended to defraud candidates waiting for university admission results.
The school said that recently, some candidates waiting for university entrance exam results have received calls from scammers threatening them mentally, slandering them about being involved in money laundering or drug trafficking cases in order to intimidate them mentally.
The subjects then provided fake documents announcing admission and scholarship, then instructed students to cheat their parents out of money, and then transferred the money to them.
The school affirms that currently, according to the admission schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training, International University as well as other universities are still in the process of processing admission data and have not yet announced the admission results or issued admission notices.
All relevant announcements are posted on official information pages. Therefore, parents and students need to be vigilant, absolutely do not listen to or follow requests from strange calls; do not make friends on Zalo, make video calls with strangers or people claiming to be authorities or reporting that relatives are in trouble without clear verification.
Students need to verify information carefully and contact the school directly to check and re-verify information when there is a request to transfer money.

The University of Natural Sciences , Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City also said that during the time when new students are preparing to enroll, there are many sophisticated scams, targeting the psychology of candidates and their families.
One form that scammers are using during this period is to fake university admission notices, request money transfers to individuals, or use the school's name to send admission notices to international student exchange or scholarship programs.
They require candidates to prove their financial status with large sums of money by bank transfer. With this form of fraud, the University of Natural Sciences has received feedback about some students who are about to be new students and their families being scammed out of hundreds of millions of dong.
The University of Science emphasizes that all information about admission records, first-year fees or other school announcements are publicly available on official information.
New students are also reminded to be vigilant and carefully research information, verify information with invitations to participate in exchange programs, scholarships with unusual signs, unclear high fee requirements, financial proof with very large amounts of money or too attractive promises.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology recently issued a warning to new students about some scammers calling, texting or emailing, claiming to be school officials, asking students to transfer admission fees, tuition fees, examination fees, foreign language certificate confirmation fees... to some personal accounts.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology notes that the school never asks students to transfer money to their personal accounts. Therefore, new students should always double-check the information. If in doubt, call the school to verify.
In addition, some subjects also impersonated as "sponsors" and "companion businesses" of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, introducing tuition loan packages, buying laptops on installments without interest, giving gifts when signing contracts... but in fact, they were credit traps with unfavorable terms.
The signs are no clear documents, no connection to official university partners, convincing students to quickly sign contracts.
Therefore, Hanoi University of Science and Technology warns new students not to sign any financial documents without understanding the terms. In case of financial difficulties, students can contact the Student Affairs Department to learn about scholarships, support from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and loan procedures from policy banks.
