Yamal keeps his promise to his beloved mother
Barcelona's win over Real Madrid on Mother's Day (11.5) meant a lot to 17-year-old player Lamine Yamal. He said: "I told my mother that every year there is a new Champions League season. And we will continue to fight for it."

Yamal is still not over Barcelona's defeat in the Champions League semi-finals. He announced that he will return to this tournament next season to bring the championship trophy back to the Catalan team, after the last championship was in the 2014-2015 season when Messi was still playing. But the immediate goal is to win La Liga with the decisive match against Real Madrid.
Yamal and his teammates spent the first 15 minutes of the match in complete shock, when Mbappe scored two consecutive goals to help Real Madrid take a 2-0 lead. However, from this point on, the Catalan team seemed to wake up and fiercely rose up, putting pressure all over the pitch and breaking the opponent's defense into pieces.
Yamal was the key player in Barcelona's dramatic turnaround. It started with Eric Garcia's goal to reduce the deficit to 1-2 in the 19th minute, before Yamal equalized the score at 2-2 in the 32nd minute with a superb shot past Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois.
Barcelona completed an impressive comeback in the first half with Raphinha's next brace in the 34th and 45th minutes to lead 4-2, drowning all hopes of Real Madrid and in the unbelievable astonishment of Mbappe. In the second half, the French striker completed his hat-trick when he scored in the 70th minute to reduce the score to 3-4. But everything became meaningless.

"We could have scored more goals today!", Yamal emphasized after Barcelona's rise and dominance over Real Madrid. "Barcelona is the club of my life, to play in a Clasico and score, it's unbelievable," Yamal expressed.
Yamal has now racked up 40 goals and assists this season, including 16 goals and 24 assists. The 17-year-old has hit the incredible milestone in his appearances against Real Madrid this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in four games against the opposition, winning all of them (including two La Liga games, the Copa del Rey final and the Spanish Super Cup final).
Yamal also kept his promise when he gave former player Thierry Henry his shirt after the El Clasico. The Frenchman also gave his junior a similar shirt from his time playing for Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the Clasico, reaching a total of 39 goals in all competitions this season. In La Liga, it is 27 goals, leading the top scorer tournament. But the chance of winning La Liga has become too fragile. Real Madrid is 7 points behind Barcelona, while the season has 3 rounds left. The Catalan team will decide the championship for themselves when they only need 1 more win to be crowned.
