The painting "Carp jumping over the dragon gate" was created on an area of nearly 10,000m2 , with the desire to express perseverance and overcoming difficulties to achieve success in life, as well as the wish of Ninh Binh province to bring the heritage city of Hoa Lu to new heights, the millennium heritage city.
At the same time, the painting is meant to honor the unique cultural and religious values of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, a sacred land with talented people, and is a praise to farmers who not only work in rice cultivation but also know how to create art, enjoy culture, enrich spiritual life, and highlight the potential and strengths of the province to tourists.

At this time, Tam Coc rice fields are attracting many tourists . Currently, Tam Coc rice fields are in the stage of forming ears, blooming, growing well, promising to ripen at the end of May, right at the scheduled time of Ninh Binh Tourism Week.
“The painting on Tam Coc rice fields is created annually, but each year brings me new, unique experiences. Sitting on a boat along both sides of the river, the rice is ripe, turning to a brilliant yellow, the giant painting appears very beautifully, bringing the beauty of the wild, peaceful, poetic nature and the people are gentle, friendly, and hospitable. To have the product of a golden season, the Management Board of Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area had to prepare a year in advance, from the idea stage to drawing, using digital map technology to bring the drawing to the actual field to create the picture with the highest accuracy.
In particular, from the beginning of 2025, the Management Board has closely coordinated with local authorities to urge and guide farmers to go to the fields to plant rice in time for the crop season.
This year, Thai Xuyen rice variety with characteristics of hard plants, good resistance to pests and diseases suitable for local soil conditions continues to be planted to create the picture.

Ms. Bui Thi Nhai, in charge of environmental landscape, Tam Coc-Bich Dong tourist area said that to create the beautiful picture as it is now, the unit had to carefully research the rice varieties, time, and planting techniques to be most accurate and suitable for the weather conditions.
However, this year, the unit also encountered many difficulties in care because the painting has many complex details, interwoven color schemes and weather that is completely different from previous years.
The unit must closely monitor every day, every week, to promptly apply technical measures and prevent pests; in particular, take manual agriculture as the main focus, to ensure sustainable agriculture combined with tourism, in harmony with nature, contributing to honoring the wet rice agriculture of the Vietnamese people.

Tam Coc rice fields are located in the famous Trang An Scenic Complex and are known as one of the five most beautiful rice fields in Vietnam with an area of over 18 hectares, winding along the Ngo Dong River.
