Winning against Laos in the opening match, U22 Vietnam had a favorable start in the journey to find the championship at SEA Games 33 this year.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, coach Kim Sang Sik was pleased with his players' fighting spirit and said that in the second half, the players played according to plan. Mr. Kim Sang Sik also said that the U22 Vietnam team was unlucky in this match when they only scored 2 goals.

Regarding the match result, coach Kim Sang Sik said that the most important thing was that the team won 3 points in the first match, although this was a victory with some regrets. The Korean coach said that the whole team will recover quickly and have good preparation for the upcoming match with Malaysia.
Mr. Kim Sang Sik also gave good comments to U22 Laos, saying that through many matches together, he saw that the Laos team's performance has clearly improved.

The match between the U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos teams is also the opening football match at the 33rd SEA Games, starting the following series of matches taking place at Rajamangala Stadium after the scheduled match in Songkhla was canceled due to the southern region of Thailand being seriously affected by floods.
Although they only won 2-1 against U22 Laos, overall the game was heavily tilted towards U22 Vietnam in both halves. In the first men's football match at Rajamangala Stadium, there were not many Thai spectators, mainly supporters of U22 Vietnam and U22 Laos.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the list of 23 players participating in the men's football event at the 33rd SEA Games was decided by coach Kim Sang Sik after an evaluation of their form, physical condition and tactical response.
Coach Kim Sang Sik gave the captain's armband to midfielder Khuat Van Khang and vice-captain to striker Nguyen Dinh Bac.
Previously, on December 1, the U22 Vietnam team arrived in Bangkok and had training sessions to prepare for the opening match.
Coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed that the whole team has prepared carefully and set the goal of winning to create a favorable start for the journey at SEA Games 33.

The Vietnam U22 team is in Group B with Laos and Malaysia. According to the original schedule, Vietnam U22 will meet Laos on December 4 and Malaysia on December 11 at Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla province. However, severe flooding in southern Thailand has caused heavy damage, especially in Songkhla province. This situation has affected the preparation of the host country, as well as the participating teams.
Therefore, the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee decided to move the venues for competitions originally scheduled in Songkhla province, including men's football, to Bangkok.
The match schedule of U22 Vietnam has also been adjusted with the opening match being one day earlier than originally planned, while the second match with Malaysia remains on December 11.
The 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee affirmed that this is to ensure safety for sports delegations and spectators, as well as the standards for organizing the 33rd SEA Games.

Despite the changes in schedule and venue, the host country affirmed that it is ready to welcome sports delegations from ASEAN member countries with warmth and hospitality.
According to Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Governor Kongsak Yodmanee, as the host country of the 33rd SEA Games, Thailand is committed to providing a memorable experience for sports delegations and fans.
According to Mr. Kongsak Yodmanee, the support team and volunteers welcomed, provided information and necessary support to the participating sports delegations and fans. Thailand also arranged vehicles to facilitate the movement of sports delegations, but did not affect the daily life of the people. Thousands of police were also mobilized to ensure security during the 33rd SEA Games.
Previously, many reporters from many media agencies of ASEAN countries were also informed by the host country about the 33rd SEA Games and visited some competition venues in Bangkok and Chonburi.
