In the 43rd minute at Elland Road, Tanaka received the ball from a teammate before firing a low shot into the near corner from outside the box, raising the score to 2-0 for Leeds. This was also the Japanese international's first goal in the Premier League this season.

Immediately, the video of Tanaka scoring for Leeds went viral on social media, attracting nearly a million views on many sports sites just hours after being posted. One account commented: "The shot shows Tanaka's determination and confidence." Another fan wrote: "The shot was too difficult, not giving Robert Sanchez any chance to block it."

Statistics show that Leeds have never lost a game when Tanaka has started at Elland Road. Before the Chelsea game, the Japanese international had started 20 games at Elland Road, winning 18 and drawing two.

Chelsea gave up after the third goal by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, thereby ending a 7-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. This result left coach Enzo Maresca's team in 4th place with 24 points, 9 points behind leaders Arsenal.

On the other hand, Leeds ended their losing streak and rose to 17th place in the rankings.

Two goals in the Chelsea - Arsenal match. Early morning of December 1, Chelsea and Arsenal drew 1-1 in a dramatic match in round 13 of the Premier League 2025/26.
