According to information from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, as of May 17, 2025, four more localities have held ceremonies to announce the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. These are the provinces of Son La, Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc and Hau Giang.

Thus, up to now, 19 out of 63 localities no longer have temporary or dilapidated houses.
Specifically, Son La province has completed the removal of 3,058 houses, of which 2,653 were newly built and 405 were repaired. Binh Dinh province has completed the removal of 4,411 houses, of which 2,531 were newly built and 1,880 were repaired. Binh Phuoc province has completed the removal of 765 houses. Hau Giang province has completed the removal of 1,479 houses, of which 833 were newly built and 646 were repaired.
At the fourth meeting of the Central Steering Committee on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide on May 11, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said that 100% of localities have reviewed and determined the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province to be completed before October 31, 2025, ensuring compliance with the target required by the Prime Minister.
In June 2025, it is expected that 16 localities will complete the Program. This list includes: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Binh Thuan, Kon Tum, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, An Giang, Ca Mau, Ha Giang, Ha Nam, Lai Chau. The remaining 26 localities strive to complete the Program from July to the end of October 2025.
According to local reports, by May 7, 2025, the country had supported the elimination of nearly 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. Of these, 111,000 houses had been inaugurated and started construction, and 98,000 houses were under construction.
From now until October 31, 2025, the whole country needs to start construction of over 61,800 houses. Of which, about 24,800 houses are for people with revolutionary contributions; about 27,000 houses under the two national target programs (about 23,000 houses for sustainable poverty reduction, nearly 4,000 houses for ethnic minorities), and more than 10,000 houses under the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
