Install electronic meter integrated with automatic RF-Spider distance measuring technology

Accordingly, more than 171,000 customers (accounting for about 52% of the total number of customers) in the province whose electricity meter readings are recorded on the 16th to 19th of each month will have their readings changed to the last day of the month in 2023.

It is expected that by 2024, all customers in the province will change their meter reading schedule to the end of the month.

During this period, electricity customers in 106 communes, wards and towns of Hue City and districts and towns (except 2 districts: Nam Dong, A Luoi) will change their electricity billing schedule to the last day of the month.

The change of meter reading schedule is implemented according to the policy of EVN and EVNCPC. The plan has been reported by PC TTH in an official dispatch to the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities.

According to the leader of PC TTH, changing the date of recording electricity meter readings to the end of the month brings many benefits to electricity customers.

Specifically, it helps improve the quality of customer service, making it easier for customers to remember, monitor, and check electricity consumption indexes according to the correct number of days in a month (from the 1st to the last day of the month) similar to bills for other services and utilities; unifying the understanding between the month of electricity usage on the electricity bill and the actual month; improving the quality, efficiency, transparency, and ease of understanding in the management of electricity metering, recording indexes, and making electricity invoices for both electricity sellers and electricity buyers.

However, customers should also note that if the meter reading date is changed to the last day of the month, the number of days of electricity use by customers will be more than the same period, correspondingly the electricity consumption will be higher than the same period. In the following months, the number of days of electricity use will be equal to the number of days in the month.

Electricity bills are calculated in accordance with the provisions of Circular No. 16/2014/TT-BCT, Circular No. 09/2023/TT-BCT and the decision on the current price list. Electricity bills and rates are calculated based on the actual number of days of electricity use on each step (for customers using electricity for domestic purposes), not cumulatively calculated for higher steps. Therefore, electricity users do not suffer any losses due to the way of calculating electricity bills in the month when the meter reading date is changed.
