Long An: Investigating and tracing the origin of a batch of fake Cefuroxim 500mg film-coated tablets and CEFIXIM 200 products

The Long An Provincial Department of Health has just issued a document informing drug trading and usage establishments and people in Long An province to temporarily stop trading and using fake Cefuroxim 500mg film-coated tablets and CEFIXIM 200 products.

According to the Long An Provincial Department of Health, previously the Drug Administration ( Ministry of Health ) issued an official dispatch announcing the appearance of fake Cefuroxim 500mg and fake Cefixim 200, so the Long An Provincial Department of Health issued an official dispatch to inform people on how to distinguish real and fake drugs as follows:

Counterfeit Cefuroxime 500mg does not have the qualitative reaction of Cefuroxime. Information about the counterfeit medicine on the label states: Cefuroxime 500mg film-coated tablets; Registration number: VD-31978-19; Batch number: 900124; Production date: 140124; Expiry date: 140127; Manufacturer: Vidipha Binh Duong Central Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company Branch. Features: the tablet does not have a glossy film coating, if you scratch it lightly with your fingernail, there will be powder, the tablet is rough and easily chipped.

The Long An Provincial Department of Health said that the above identifying characteristics are different from real drugs such as: the pill has a shiny film coating, if scratched lightly with a fingernail there is no powder, the edge of the pill is smooth and sharp. In addition, the real and fake drug boxes also have a few different small characters.

Counterfeit CEFIXIM 200 does not meet the quality requirements for the qualitative cefixim index according to the basic standards. Information about the counterfeit drug on the label states: CEFIXIM 200 film-coated tablets, GĐKLH number: VD-28887-18; batch number: 30201123, NSX: 201123, HD: 201125; Manufacturing facility: Cuu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company with the following characteristics and signs: thin tablet coating, easily chipped tablet edges, inconsistent color of tablets in the same blister pack, with small spots.

Meanwhile, real pills have the same color, the edges and faces of the pills are not chipped, the box is also more neat in terms of characters and writing...

Long An Provincial Department of Health requests the Department of Information and Communications, the Health Department of districts, towns, cities, and functional agencies of Long An province to inform drug trading and using establishments and people to temporarily stop trading and using fake Cefuroxim 500mg film-coated tablets and fake CEFIXIM 200 products with the above-mentioned identifying signs.

Units are advised to only buy and sell drugs at legal pharmaceutical establishments; not to buy and sell drugs of unknown origin; and to promptly report any suspicious signs of production and trading of counterfeit drugs or drugs of unknown origin to health authorities and relevant authorities.

The Long An Provincial Health Department Inspectorate coordinated with the police, market management, Steering Committee 389 and relevant authorities to inspect drug trading establishments in the area. Investigate, verify information and trace the origin of the batch of fake Cefuroxim 500mg film-coated tablets and fake CEFIXIM 200 products to take measures to handle violating organizations and individuals according to current regulations.

At the same time, promptly detect and prevent the production, trade and use of fake Cefuroxim 500mg film-coated tablets and fake CEFIXIM 200 products. Receive information about fake drugs, smuggled drugs, drugs of unknown origin in the area to promptly coordinate with competent authorities to verify and handle.

Long An Provincial Center for Disease Control increases sampling and quality control of drugs in circulation in the area for drugs at risk of being counterfeited or of poor quality; promptly reports detected cases to Long An Provincial Department of Health and relevant authorities.
