Located at the confluence of the Vam Co Dong and Nhut Tao rivers, Vam Nhut Tao is the site of the resounding victory of national hero Nguyen Trung Truc in burning French ships. This was the first and only time in the armed resistance movement against the French in the late 19th century that the resistance fighters sank an enemy warship. The "fiery victory at Nhut Tao" is also a testament to the courage, intelligence, and resourcefulness of the resistance fighters who, with only rudimentary weapons, defeated the enemy's large ships and powerful guns. Because of these significant meanings, Vam Nhut Tao was classified as a National Monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1996. The entire historical site is located in An Nhut Tan commune, Tan Tru district, Long An province, covering an area of 6.1 hectares, with a total cost of over 50 billion VND. Construction began in 2003 and was inaugurated in October 2010, with the main components including: a stele house, a memorial temple, an exhibition house, a green park, etc.
