Over the years, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Blind and the Vietnam Autistic People (VAPs) Economic Model have created hundreds of job opportunities for the visually impaired and autistic, helping them to assert themselves and stabilize their lives.
In a small three-story house, there is a special business located on Mai Anh Tuan Street (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi ). It is the first economic model project for autistic people in Vietnam, founded by Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung and persistently implemented over the past 8 years.
Sharing about the recruitment process, Mr. Trung said that thanks to his relationship with an autistic person, he was able to meet his employees.
Nguyen Quang Anh (born in 2003, an employee who has worked at Hanh Phuc restaurant for 3 years) expressed his happiness at being able to work as a healthy person. Here, he learned how to maintain and operate restaurants and supermarkets, and especially he could communicate better.
According to Mr. Trung, knowledge about autism in Vietnam is still limited, many people do not understand and have prejudices against autistic people. In addition, raising capital and finding resources are also big challenges. However, with enthusiasm and determination, Mr. Trung has overcome all difficulties and achieved initial successes.
Special staff at Happiness Enterprise (belonging to VAPs) are serving customers.
The first time experiencing the restaurant Hanh Phuc (belonging to VAPs) served by special staff, Ms. Ngoc Linh (living in Dong Da district, Hanoi) was surprised by the professionalism of the staff here. "The staff are very well-mannered, greeting customers and introducing the restaurant, then giving separate menus of drinks and food. I was really surprised when I tried being a customer at this special business model, seeing how skillfully they work, I was very happy" - Ms. Linh expressed.
Over the years, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Blind has organized many free vocational training classes to help hundreds of visually impaired students find stable jobs.
