Vietnam-Philippines maritime law enforcement forces strengthen relations

The two sides discussed substantive cooperation contents in the coming time such as increasing exchanges, delegation exchanges, joint training, professional training, and coordination in handling situations at sea.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership (2015-2025), towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1976-2026), Coast Guard ship 8002, Squadron 21, Coast Guard Region 2 Command visited and worked with the Philippine Coast Guard in early October.

Colonel Le Huy, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2, said this is the second time the Vietnam Coast Guard has sent Coast Guard ship 8002 to visit and work with the Philippine coast guard.

The visit and working session is a foreign activity to strengthen the friendly relationship, mutual understanding and trust between the two maritime law enforcement forces, vividly demonstrating the open, proactive and active defense foreign policy of the Party and State of Vietnam. At the same time, the visit affirms the determination and international integration capacity of the Vietnam Coast Guard, contributing to deepening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines for peace , security and common prosperity of the region.

This visit and exchange with the Philippine Coast Guard of Coast Guard Ship 8002 was led by Major General Tran Quang Tuan, Commander of Coast Guard Region 2 Command.

Within the framework of the working program, there are activities such as paying a courtesy call to Cebu City authorities, organizing the 2nd Bilateral Conference between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard; sports exchanges, visiting cultural and historical sites in Cebu City, Philippines; exchanging experiences, practicing together with ships of the Philippine Coast Guard on search and rescue, fire prevention and fighting at sea...

At the places visited and paid courtesy visits, Major General Tran Quang Tuan, Commander of Coast Guard Region 2, thanked the Philippine government leaders and coast guard for their warm welcome; affirmed that the Vietnam Coast Guard always attaches importance to the traditional cooperative and friendly relationship with the Philippine Coast Guard and maritime law enforcement agencies, especially in coordinating search and rescue, supporting fishermen, sharing law enforcement experiences, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, security and safety in the East Sea.

The two sides discussed substantive cooperation contents in the coming time such as increasing exchanges, delegation exchanges, joint training, professional training, and coordination in handling situations at sea, while affirming their determination to promote cooperation between the coast guard forces of the two countries to become increasingly in-depth, effective and sustainable./.
