On the evening of April 28, Mr. Vu Manh Trung, Head of Dong Bai Ferry Terminal (Cat Hai District, Hai Phong) said that as of 8:00 p.m. on April 28, the number of passengers passing through Dong Bai Ferry Terminal reached about 10,000 people. Since early morning, many tourists have been present at the ferry terminal to travel to Cat Ba Island.
Specifically, the number of passengers and vehicles passing through Dong Bai ferry terminal was summarized by the Terminal Management Board as follows: The unit carried out 194 ferry trips to serve passengers with 974 cars of all kinds, 2,130 motorbikes, 51 bicycles and 9,590 pedestrians.

To serve tourists during the peak holiday season of April 30 - May 1, Dong Bai Ferry Management Board has deployed a full force of 150 officers, employees, and 4 P60 ferries, 1 P48 ferry, and 3 small ferries.
According to Mr. Trung, this morning, there were many passengers crossing the ferry, but there was only congestion, not prolonged congestion. Tourists had to wait about 1 to 2 hours to board the ferry.
"According to statistics, on April 27, there were 5,710 pedestrians, 49 bicycles, 873 cars of all kinds, and 1,176 motorbikes crossing the ferry. Compared to yesterday, today (April 28), the number of passengers crossing Dong Bai ferry doubled. However, due to the addition of more ferries, there was no prolonged congestion like every year," said Mr. Trung.
With nearly 10,000 tourists flocking to Ngoc Island, the beaches in Cat Ba have become more crowded than the first day of the holiday.
Compared to the time before the April 30-May 1 holiday, when Dong Bai ferry terminal experienced prolonged congestion on the weekend, many tourists had to wait 3-4 hours to board the ferry, the number of passengers taking Dong Bai ferry to Cat Ba Island during the holidays tended to decrease.
According to the forecast of Dong Bai Ferry Management Board, tomorrow, the number of tourists will decrease compared to today and will be crowded again on April 30 when many tourists end their vacation in Cat Ba Island to return to the mainland.
If there is a traffic jam at Cai Vieng wharf in Phu Long commune, Cat Hai district on the last days of the holiday, visitors can choose to take the Cat Hai - Phu Long cable car. The three-wire Cat Hai - Phu Long cable car route has a total length of 3,955m, a capacity of 4,500 passengers/hour, including 60 cabins with a capacity of 30 passengers/cabin, a maximum speed of 8m/s. The cable car route takes visitors quickly from the station next to Dong Bai ferry to the station in Phu Long commune (Cat Ba) in about 8 - 12 minutes.
Currently, the Hai Phong Department of Transport also arranges traffic inspectors to plan traffic regulation and ensure traffic order and safety at bus stations, ferry terminals, and train stations during the holidays, with special attention paid to Dong Bai ferry terminal.
Every day, 8 inspectors coordinate with other functional forces to regulate and ensure traffic order and safety, minimizing traffic congestion at bus stations, ferry terminals, and train stations in the city.
