The number of visitors exchanged between Vietnam and Korea has grown strongly.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 2.75 million Korean visitors to Vietnam and it is expected that by the end of the year, it will reach nearly 3.2 million. Korea is Vietnam's leading tourist market. In return, there have been 350,000 Vietnamese visitors to Korea, and this year the number is expected to reach 420,000. Vietnam is leading the Southeast Asian market in terms of the number of visitors to Korea.

On September 28, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) and the Representative Office of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote tourist exchange between the two countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed to promote the exchange of visitors between the two countries, rapidly increasing the number of Korean visitors to Vietnam and Vietnamese visitors to Korea. Specifically, the two sides will share information related to policies, trends and statistics on tourism... promoting exchanges between tourism businesses.

KTO will support VITA member businesses to build and promote Korean tourism programs; improve tour quality and ensure benefits for Vietnamese tourists when coming to Korea; and promote Vietnamese tourism businesses to improve service quality for Korean tourists coming to Vietnam.

Notably, the two sides will closely coordinate with state tourism management agencies to strengthen the management of tourism program quality and ensure the rights of visitors.

Mr. Lee Jae Hoon, Chief Representative of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Office in Vietnam, said: “Regarding the preferences of Korean tourists in choosing destinations, they like to go to Da Nang, recently Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc... In particular, Da Nang is the most favorite destination of Korean tourists with many flight routes, suitable for families and young people. Meanwhile, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are suitable for tourists coming for business and playing golf. With Vietnam's open visa policy, the number of Korean tourists coming to Vietnam will increase in the near future.”

“The Korean tourist market has a fast growth rate and good recovery. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Korean tourists' preferences focus mainly on sea tourism and sports tourism. Especially golf tourism, Korean tourists dominate. According to estimates, there will be about 1 million Korean tourists this year following golf tourism,” said Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association.
