Combining education and technology - where is the reasonable boundary?
Recent studies have shown clear benefits from integrating technology into education. According to a report by the World Economic Forum[1], technology and AI algorithms have the ability to personalize learning content, adjust learning styles based on learners' behaviors and preferences, and open up positive changes in the way learners are assessed and guided, etc. In particular, technology helps create unlimited learning conditions, learners can access documents, lecturers and friends around the world through just one internet-connected device.

In the post-Covid-19 pandemic context, when online learning becomes the new learning method, technology has become the "backbone" for many education systems.
However, technology also brings risks worth considering. In particular, young students are easily dependent on technological devices, leading to abuse and loss of control over usage time.
Therefore, there are many concerns about the over-reliance on machines and technology, teachers becoming device operators instead of leaders and inspirers, and students interacting only with screens instead of teachers and classmates.
VUS maintains core values in the digital age
Facing the strong wave of digital transformation, the Vietnam-USA Society English System (VUS) has chosen to follow three pillars: teaching quality - educational technology - learning experience. Understanding that technology is only truly effective when operated by people and for people, VUS focuses on optimizing the learning experience, harmoniously combining international standard educational methods and advanced technology.

At VUS, technology does not replace but becomes a powerful arm to support teachers in their role of guiding and accompanying students. The ecosystem of OVI Kids and OVI Teen applications is developed to suit each level, based on personal learning data, integrating game-based learning design. Thereby, students learn English at their own pace and ability in a more exciting and proactive way even outside the classroom.
Follow the trend of taking international certification exams on computers
In the context of changes in international certification exams, especially IELTS, when switching to computer-based testing, candidates' learning and test preparation are more or less affected. Faced with this change, VUS's professional team responded quickly and promptly changed the IELTS test preparation program to IELTS Core with the motto "Learn Right, Practice Fast, Improve Score". At the same time, the learning application development team created OVI IELTS to accompany students in the process of learning, practicing and taking IELTS mock tests simulating real computer-based tests.
The focus of the program is the CoreMind Learning method, which helps to train deep thinking instead of rote learning or trick learning. This method is a combination of: Core - core thinking ability, the foundation for all academic skills; Mind - emphasizing the role of deep thinking and critical thinking; Learning - aiming at the process of active learning, self-awareness for continuous improvement. Thereby, building in students the habit of analyzing, synthesizing, and critical thinking on topics, establishing a solid foundation and the ability to express clearly in English.

Along with CoreMind Learning, the OVI IELTS application stands out with a series of features that support comprehensive IELTS test preparation for all four skills. The highlight is the AI virtual assistant that can score the Speaking and Writing sections close to the actual IELTS score scale.
The application also provides a virtual exam room experience, simulating real exam questions, helping students get used to the pressure and process of taking the exam. OVI IELTS also seamlessly connects learning data and real classrooms - where teachers play a role in in-depth assessment and guide students to optimize their scores through the Class Messenger feature (connecting students and teachers) and Home-school Connection, creating a close bridge between parents and their children's learning process.

There is no denying the role of technology in improving the quality of modern education. But more important is how we position technology in the learning journey. Technology only truly brings value when used with clear goals and strategies.
