From the first steps, diners are captivated by the gentle aroma of chrysanthemum tea, the spicy smell of bread and the strangeness of dried Bang La apples - 3 "specialties" brought from the port city.
Ms. Ha Phuong, An Tra brand representative and the person assigned by the Department of Foreign Affairs of Hai Phong City to participate in this year's Festival, shared: "I am very honored to bring typical products of Hai Phong to the festival, including chrysanthemum tea, spicy bread and a new product, dried Bang La apples. All are made from local ingredients, showing the purity and unique culture of the homeland."
Not only a culinary gift, Hai Phong chrysanthemum tea also carries within it a long tradition. Different from green teas from Thai Nguyen or Tuyen Quang, chrysanthemum tea here is skillfully transformed from many different types of chrysanthemum, harmoniously combining sweet, sour, and astringent flavors, creating a unique aroma.
“Hai Phong chrysanthemum tea not only helps to relax and aid sleep, but is also good for health and helps to brighten the eyes. This is a typical tea-drinking habit of the people of the Port City, where chrysanthemum tea is popular in every street, alley, from small shops to large stores,” Ms. Ha Phuong informed.

Besides tea, spicy bread is also a popular specialty. Ms. Ha Phuong said that Hai Phong spicy bread is prepared in a small, bite-sized form, but still retains the rich flavor of fresh meat, pate and the chef's signature recipe.
“Compared to the traditional big baguette, the small version helps diners enjoy the full flavor without being too full, is also more affordable, and even children can enjoy it,” she said.
The new highlight at Hai Phong booth this year is dried Bang La apples – a rare but interesting gift from the countryside. The appearance of this product is a reminder of the countryside rich in specialties, which has been introduced by the city’s Department of Foreign Affairs in many previous Food Tour programs.
Regarding the organization, Ms. Ha Phuong commented: “This year’s festival was very carefully prepared, with more cultural colors and stronger investment than before. This helps provinces and cities have the opportunity to introduce their products to a large number of visitors, creating an attractive experience for everyone.”
The Hai Phong booth is not only a place to enjoy, but also a bridge to bring the culture, cuisine and hospitality of the port region to international friends. In those simple flavors, people can see a vibrant city, full of creativity and rich in cultural identity.
With the theme "International Food Culture Festival 2025: Joining hands to support our compatriots to overcome storms and floods", all activities of the International Food Culture Festival 2025, from booths to charity programs, are aimed at sharing and supporting the community, especially the people in the Central provinces who are suffering heavy losses due to storms and floods. Every support from individuals and groups here directly contributes to charity activities, arousing the spirit of "mutual love", "helping each other" and promoting the strength of national unity. |
