Losing a player early, Real Madrid still won resoundingly at the Club World Cup

Real Madrid got their first win at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup when they defeated Mexican representative Pachuca 3-1.

On the opening day, Real Madrid disappointed when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia). Coach Xabi Alonso's team was under a lot of pressure as they had to beat Pachuca to have any hope of advancing.

But in the first few minutes, Real Madrid played like they were sleepwalking. They allowed Pachuca too much space to approach goalkeeper Courtois' goal. The final mistake came in the 7th minute, when centre-back Raul Asencio pulled down Rondon in a position that could have led to a goal. The referee immediately showed the Real Madrid player a straight red card.

Playing with one less man, the white team still struggled to defend against Pachuca's fast and powerful attacks. Luckily for them, the Mexican representative shot poorly and could not take advantage of the opportunity. Goalkeeper Courtois also played very focused with many important saves.

Thanks to the solidity of the Belgian goalkeeper, Real Madrid not only escaped defeat but also regained their spirit to deploy the game. The cooling break also came in time for coach Xabi Alonso to give important instructions.

Then, goals came consecutively for Real Madrid at the end of the first half. In the 35th minute, Jude Bellingham received the ball from his teammate, rushed straight into the penalty area and then shot diagonally to open the score.

In the 43rd minute, the gap was widened after a beautiful combination. Alexander-Arnold quickly sent the ball into the penalty area for Gonzalo Garcia to wall. Arda Guler had space to shoot with his right foot into the Pachuca net.

Having conceded two goals so quickly, the Mexican team was forced to push up their formation in the second half. But on an unlucky day, their strikers missed one chance after another.

Real Madrid only needed a moment to score another goal. In the 70th minute, Brahim Diaz crossed accurately for Valverde to tap in and raise the score to 3-0.

It wasn't until the 80th minute that Montiel helped Pachuca score an honorary goal with a shot that hit Tchouameni and changed direction.

Winning 3-1, Real Madrid got 4 points in Group H and has a bright chance to continue at the FIFA Club World Cup.
